Have you ever bought an eShop game that you weren't too excited about, but when you played it you were blown away?
Or have you ever had a great experience with a relatively obscure game? Share your experience!
Mine was Hazumi; a great little puzzle game for $3.99.

Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.

I would have to say Gunman Clive and Mercenaries 2. Both under 5 bucks with a high quality feel

Still playing 3DS but will have Switch soon for multiplayer with friends. I miss you guys! Adam, Joni, Gavin and the rest of the Blue Rogues from the Phantasy Star Zero Days.

Not originally an eShop game, but the DSiWare Go Series: Fishing Resort is my personal hidden gem. It was unexpectedly addictive and fun and I played it quite a lot.

Also dsiware, Hello Flowerz. After getting past the ridiculous name its actually a really nice little game and one I played for to completion more than once.

Does Yumi's Odd Odyssey count? I know it got a 9 in the NL review but it seems like not many people have played it. It's such a great game with amazing gameplay, well hidden secrets and good difficulty. Also, the OST is lovely.

Check out my super awesome Super Mario Maker levels.

Biggest surprises for me were Mercernaries 2 and Mighty Switch Force 1&2.

I know most people had already played MSF since way back anyway, but I'd not been particularly grabbed by it. So then I just got it when it was on sale and I thought it was really quite brilliant. Just too short really. I'd love to see them make a third one into a bigger adventure like Shantae.

I'll also add Link's Awakening actually. I'd played it like a decade ago but had never completed it until I got it on the 3DS eshop. That game was just massively ahead of its time and still plays brilliantly today.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

I also caught I am an air traffic Controller on sale for 9.99. I highly recommend it especially if you can catch it on sale. It's really a cool experience

Still playing 3DS but will have Switch soon for multiplayer with friends. I miss you guys! Adam, Joni, Gavin and the rest of the Blue Rogues from the Phantasy Star Zero Days.

@Dezzy: I agree Mighty Switchforce should be on here. Heck they are cheap out of the box and both very good with stunning graphics

I wouldn't really call Mighty Switch Force and Gunman Clive hidden gems though. They're like the first two series anyone brings up when recommending something good on the 3DS's eShop.

I'd say Ketzal's Corridors is a pretty over looked puzzle game. It has such a great aesthetic brimming with life. The ancient civilization theme really gets my attention. It's basically fitting a shape through a series of on coming walls. It's challenging but fun and has plenty of different modes to keep come back and trying out. I'm not doing it justice, but it really is fun. Should've had a demo.

AiRace Speed/Xeno and EDGE.

Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...

RR529

Family Tennis 3D is a fun arcade tennis game, and I return to it quite often.

Arc Style: Solitaire 3D is a great little game as well. I'm not sure how it compares to other solitaire games on the eShop, but for me it gets the job done, and it even has unlockable decks (including Blazblue, Battle Fantasia, & Family series decks).

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

I think another one I'd like to add is Cubit: The Hardcore Platformer Robot. I believe it's only $2.99, and I've been addicted to improving my score on the online rankings.
@Morpheel: One of my favorite DSiWare titles was Go Series: Undead Storm. I used to play it all the time, and its sequel, Undead Nightmare, has been pretty enjoyable also.

I loved the first Fishing game. A great deal at 1.99. I haven't played the second fishing game. What are the differences between the 2. From the description and pictures they look identical. Absolutely nice games though that people probably don't even know about.

Actually, I do have the second one too.

It's a bit more complex and forgiving. There's more options and locations too. And you can actually see your character walking around.

The game is more focused around Basses and features many kinds to catch, but there's also other fishies.

The core fishing gameplay is mostly unchanged.

The "littleness" and simplicity of the the first one managed to capture my attention more though. It is like having a tiny little pond to fish in.

Bit Boy‼︎ ARCADE has great sound design and colorful visuals. The gameplay is decent enough although the difficulty spikes during World 3.

@Morpheel: I've been waiting for GameBridge to put the second one on sale but I don't think that's happening. One of these days I will get it. I love fishing games and actually have a few on 3DS/DSi. It's funny the best of the bunch is the DSi one you mentioned as a gem. It's just setup so nice with quests and equipment and just the way it plays.

@Windy: yeah I don't think that'll happen any time soon.

Glad to see someone else likes GS:Fishing Resort. It's also the best fishing game on my 3ds xD

Off the top of my head, games that are cheap and more fun than I expected include Alien on the Run, Fairune, and Toy Stunt Bike. The last one can make for some funny screenshots.

I'm quite fond of Academy Checkers which is a DSware game. I may be alone on that one. I also like Korg M01(over the DSN-12). Steel Empire is pricey but fun. If not for the price it would be more acclaimed.

My other Switch is a WiiU.

The thing I dont get is sega does these 3D classics some of them way more acclaimed than Steel Empire, yet Steel Empire is still sitting there at a high price. im sure its good im just not paying that for whats basically a 3D classic. I forget who published it but I guess they are content not selling very many copies of Steel Empire. talk about stubborn.
