I've noticed that Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion now has a listing on the eShop. It's not much, but I've also noticed that it has a TBD price tag on it, but it doesn't say it's "Coming to the eShop" like NSMB 2. Does this mean that it's going to be available on the eShop soon?

It wouldn't surprise me if it was. Obviously, if Nintendo can push their own traditionally retail games onto the eShop, it's not that much of a stretch to allow 3rd parties to release their "retail" titles on the eShop too.

Nintendo added text to the explanation of the slide, to say "refers to first-party titles only" in regards to the dual digital/retail releases. It was just a super misleading slide, then.

So, with that update you must not have read, that article doesn't prove anything. Well, except the opposite of 3rd-party retail games on the eShop. Then again, that article's about two months old, and now that Nintendo has actually launched a retail eShop download and knows what kind of server strain to expect from AAA launches on the eShop, they may have changed their mind on that issue...
