I've heard the cart version of the game has some lag, even if minor. & only under 3d mode? On a scale of 1-10(10 being the highest), what are the levels of lag, both with, & without the 3d turned on, in both the cart, & eShop download versions? In advance, Thanks much!
It's not just lag. Sometimes the audio cuts out, which makes it hard to play a rhythm game. The Control level of Core is unplayable, even with the 3D turned off.
I haven't had any problems. Only that it lags when I have the 3D turned on. When it's off it works just fine and I don't mind it, the 3D was never that great for this game anyways.
If you've not experienced lag in SAGA then you haven't gotten to Zone 3 in Bit.Trip Runner. It lags even with 3D off in a few of those later levels. Such a disappointment.
BTW, I have Bit.Trip Runner on WiiWare, COMPLETE, and I have SAGA on cart and digital download. The cart and digital download for 3DS are identical and both suffer from lag. The WiiWare and COMPLETE disc do NOT have this problem and thus are the superior versions to own.
@zerks: hey, were you ever able to get the save file transfer tool to work on your copy of SAGA? I thought i saw you say it didn't work, so i'm curious.

Hey dragon! Yeah, I was made aware of the Save Data Transfer Tool. (I didn't know it was something you had to download from the eShop). Anyways, I did download it but then, at the zenith hour, I decided to not transfer my save data. I figured I'd spent the $5 on another copy of this game, might as well play through it again. I like the concept of having my save data "tied" to my cartridge, rather than this newly downloaded copy.
EDIT: It's interesting to note that the 3DS Activity Log cannot differentiate between this and the cartridge version. So, despite it not recognizing the cart save data, it think's I've logged 40+ hours already into it. lol
I've defended Saga as being "not that bad" in the past, but need to revisit that statement: it really depends on which game and what specific level you are playing. Runner and Core definitely have issues. Runner is still playable but chugs pretty seriously in some stages of level 3; Core I haven't played deep enough to make serious comments. I've never had audio cut out or desync badly while playing, but don't doubt that it could happen. Keeping the 3D effects turned off helps, and is pretty much necessary in a few cases.
In my opinion, the game is still VERY worthwhile, especially with the great $5 sale going on right now. The good outweighs the bad, and the price simply can't be beat.
Late to the party, Capt_N already answered, best off closing the thread then. However, I haven't had any lag and I bought the game the day it came on sale. I played all six games and made to 1-11 in Bit.Trip Runner. (I'm a slow-pace gamer) No lag at all. I don't use 3D, ever. Berzerker99 stated earlier than Zone 3 might have lag, though. You shouldn't have any problem if you leave it as 2D, you save more power that way anyway. Have fun playing Bit.Trip.

... To be fair I actually found this thread (surprisingly) insightful; but I thought everyone knew about the lag.
My hopes soared and crashed, thinking maybe they fixed it on the eShop.
I downloaded the game this weekend, and have played a bit through each of the games (and more than a bit with Runner ) and have not had any lag. I haven't used the 3D at all though, so maybe that's the biggest issue.
There's definitely lag in the DL version of Saga. It's kinda killing it for me. The Wiiware version of Runner is perfect precise, but I really want to blame all my failures on the 3DS title's timing. I can only hope for some sort of response from the dev team...but that's a long shot.

idk about you, but i'm not holding my breath on it. they've been too focused on other stuff for the past idk-how-long-SAGA's-been-out to be bothered with fixing SAGA, and that's really killed a lot of the GG magic for me because my two favorite games in the series (CORE and RUNNER) are really screwed up in this.
my only hope is that people completely unfamiliar with the Bit.Trip series don't pick up SAGA and think this version of these games is how they've always been and thus get turned off on them, because COMPLETE and the WiiWare versions play just as intended and the series itself is excellent. I think it's a damn shame they're allowing SAGA to continue on in the eShop like this and even putting it on sale without either fixing it or at least letting us know that fixes are being worked on, or even letting people know that they're throwing their $5 at a game that won't play right. It just stinks of misrepresentation and shadiness. A broken game is a broken game no matter how cheaply you price it.

Thanks. I was planning on buying it because of the sale, but now I'm saved. Which version would you recommend? WiiWare or Complete (Assuming Complete is the one on PC)?

@CaptainCharlie: I'm not sure what you're talking about; i was unaware that COMPLETE was released for PC. I was referring to the Wii version. :3
If you're deciding between getting the WiiWare versions and picking up a copy of Complete for your Wii or Wii U, go for Complete — it's got all the games on one disc, as well as all the extra challenge stuff :3
