Topic: Am I the only one using my 3DS as an MP3 player?

Am I the only one still listening to music using my 3DS? And should I consider an alternative music player? IDK, I just feel like I'm the only one using my handheld systems as MP3 players. I even do this with my PSP!

@Aiodensghost
I play my MP3 musics with my smartphone Vivo.
The quality sound of MP3 if you play on 3DS (especially older 3DS) is less louder than if you use your smartphone.
But, if you don't mind, just go ahead !

@Anti-Matter I'm using headphones to listen to my music cause, lets face it, metal and rock music would blow out any speaker in the 3DS family, wether old or new. But the fact that it's ok to pretty much be a hipster and use a 3DS is all I needed to know. Thank you!

@Aiodensghost I use my phone nowadays, though I mostly listen to the radio when I'm out & about. I'm guessing you must have a New 3DS? I only say that as the original 3DS' are monstrously slow to load the music player even compared to 90s phones I've owned.

I did use my 3DS as an MP3. I really like the application and the fact that you can go back and forth between songs by using the L-R buttons even when closed. But let's face it, a 3DS is way too bulky for a music player. I'm using my smartphone now. If nintendo made an MP3 that works like the 3DS application I would instantly buy it though.

I just use my phone and/or computer.

Nowadays I mostly use spotify for music anyway.

@DanteSolablood I'm using my old 3DS, I have yet to upgrade, and even then I can't bring myself to get rid of my old 3DS due to it being an ambassidor system. If I upgrade, I'm keeping my old 3DS, and I'll probably hand it down to my kids if I decide to have any.

@Meowpheel I still prefer getting CD's or downloading my music. The last CD's I got cost me $90 because I had to import them from Japan, but Myka Relocate: Lies to Light the Way and The Young Souls was worth it! I use Spotify like most do, but I only use it for a quick recommendation and to explore artists a bit.

IDK, it seems reasonable to carry around a 3DS instead of a CD player when I have the old 3DS (less bulk, and I don't have to worry about my music collection being scratched to pieces.)

@Sir_Anthony They could make it the same size as the Sega Dreamcast memory cards, and be able to play a few games on it as well as microSD card support for switching cards. Maybe add Bluetooth support for Bluetooth earbuds?

@Aiodensghost I can tell you from personal experience that the Ambassador status & games transfer with the system data... I upgraded to an (older) 3DS XL a while ago. My brother actually managed to drop the original launch 3DS down a toilet... leave it wrapped in a wet case for 7 days & then asked me to fix it.

My only issue with the 3DS is how slow it is & where the headphone jack is located. Definitely not using my Switch as an MP3 player... oh wait, you can't anyway. No MP3 app.

Wrapping it in a wet case is a BIG no-no!! I'm one of those that you tell when stuff like that happens to me imediately, so then I can get rice or silica gel packets and put it in that to let it dry out. Granted, I have a 50/50 shot of not being able to save it, but its better than nothing!!

In terms of it being slow, I don't really mind the speed, cause Terraria on the old 3DS runs at 30 fps, and it doesn't really bother me cause that just means I have to do extra prep before taking on a boss. As for the headphone jack, I don't like where its positioned, but I can live with it, cause there are worse things on this planet (like hackers on Minecraft's Skyblock server... -_-)

@Aiodensghost Haha, as an aging Minecraft veteran I can tell you that ANY hacking is frustrating - the amount of times I'd be playing Skywars & someone would rush out with a full set of diamond 5 seconds into the match...

Yeah, my brother called me right after it happened & I gave him strict instructions to take it out of the case & wrap it in a towel until I could get a look at it (rice purchased of course). he just... didn't.

It' less FPS for me - more about load time, I genuinely love playing Badge Arcade still but I will not wait upwards of 5 minutes for it to load up. I could raid an ocean monument in that time.

@DanteSolablood Loadtime isn't so bad on the 3DS vs the Vita. GOD, that was horrible for me.

@DanteSolablood Also, I played Minecraft starting as a 10 year old on PC, then I went to Xbox/PS, now I'm on mobile/Vita/3DS.

I believe I may have in my film school days, but it's just not loud enough.

I sought an iPod Nano after they were discontinued, so I use that now. I mainly just listen to Fire Emblem music these days (most of it being imported from Japan).

@sillygostly An iPod nano would be a good idea for me, as I have the iPod Touch mid-2013 5th gen. The only problem with that is I kill it too quick by playing Terraria and Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links on it. That and in order to het any real use out of it you have to have an Apple I.D. linked to it (which I do,) and be connected to the internet (a hassle, to say the least.)

@sillygostly Also, the OG 3DS is really good if using headphones, its loud enough to block out my grandmother when she's preaching hell and brimstone at me XD

I have an iPod shuffle and I love it.

I wish they had made models with larger capacities.
