Topic: 3DS XL Problem...

So quite recently, my 3DS XL has been acting up lately and there's a pretty serious problem with it right now, so here's the deal...

The 3DSXL won't charge AT ALL and its not the charger, because it still charges my brother's 3DS. I have tried plugging the 3DSXL in a bunch of different outlets in the house and it had yet to charge the dang thing (By now the battery was completely dead so it did not turn on).

So then I tried Reseating the battery, that did not work...

And then I decided to place my brother's 3DS battery into my 3DSXL battery slot, and at a surprise, it actually turned on. So then after that I decided to just play some SSB and ORAS special demo until the battery power went red. As soon as I saw it go red (Solid), I plugged it in and continued playing but the battery power did not get back to blue level...

So then I turned off the 3DS completely and plugged it in a different outlet for about 20-30 min. I turned it on later and it was still on red (Remember this is still my brother's battery, who's still charged in his 3DS). At this moment the darn thing is plugged in and is still on red. So at this point I'm assuming something is blocking the way for the electricity to reach the battery but I find that unlikely to be honest...

I never actually heard a problem like this or ever had a problem with a 3DS in fact... So I'm wondering if there's any legit advice and whether or not I should just send it for repair at Nintendo (Which is what I'm trying to avoid...)?

It's likely the spot where the charger plugs into the system. On the route from the charger to the battery, that's the most common place for malfunctions. I mean, technically you could open it up and try to fix it yourself, but I'd advise against it, it breaks the system's Terms of Service meaning that, if you fail to fix it, now Nintendo can refuse to repair it too. Your best bet would be sending it to Nintendo. If it's under warranty, they'll fix it for free. If not, it's much cheaper than buying a new system (and I've had them repair stuff for free that's not under warranty anymore). I'd suggest to contact them to see what they say before you make a decision against it.

Alright I may consider sending it to Nintendo then, I'd rather not risk fixing it and possibly never getting it fixed...

Nintendo's repair service is pretty awesome. Back when my DS screen broke, they fixed it for around 50. Granted this was under warranty, but a broken screen was an out of warranty repair...still, it was a reasonable price to pay. Something like this would probably be a simple fix. That would be free under warranty and probably free or extremely cheap out of warranty

Finally I get to help someone! This happens to my normal 3DS now and the charger connector slot on my 3DS is up higher than it's suppose to be. My dad told me to connect the charger high up than usual. Don't touch the charger at all while plug-in to the spot, though, as you'll lose the connection and have to unplug it and reinsert it again. Hope I helped you.
