Topic: 3DS Transfer Question

So I'm pre-ordering a Link Between Worlds 3DS XL which comes out this Friday. My question is:

How do I transfer all of my data on my current 3DS, over to the 3DS XL I will be getting this Friday? Is it as easy as taking out the SD card of my current 3DS and putting it in the new one? I don't want to lose all my progress in my games, and all the games I bought off the eShop.

Thanks in advance.

do the transfer normally(follow the instructions from here http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_... , yeah it's a little confusing but I never did a transfer myself so I can't give instructions) after it's over pop your old 3DS' SD card into the new 3DS.

BOOM!

you're done and all your save data is safe

Yes, follow those, and certainly don't just put your SD card in. I think that'll format it. Follow the steps. And, please take the extra precaution of copying your existing SD card's files to your computer. That way, if anything goes wrong, you're covered. I'll be doing the same thing as you when I get my Zelda XL on Friday!

I've got a question. When I do the transfer over to my XL, will I have to have a new friend code and lose all of my current friends as a result?

@Ras After the transfer, everything will be exactly how it was, just on your new 3DS instead.
That includes your Friend Code and friends and probably anything else that you can think of.

Cool, thanks. That was a big concern, but it wouldn't make sense to make people lose all their friends.
