I have recently lost my SD 8GB card that my Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate was downloaded onto. So my question is, where is my save data saved? Is it on the SD card? or is it on the 3ds?

Look under data management in settings, it does list all your save data, if it isn't there, it was on the SD card.

I think digital games store the data on the SD card, not the system memory.

The only game-related stuff saved directly on the system are the active DSiWare titles, everything else is on the SD card.
