I have panicked a few times when my 3DS has gotten damaged before. But now I don't get as worried, 3DS's are freaking troopers, I have dropped mine many times. I have scratches, small dents, and it works like it was brand new.
I dropped mine in concrete a couple of times and cracked at the left hinge and eventually was a clean break. I just keep putting new super glue on it each time and it still opens and closes. Recently the rubber on the circular pad slipped off a few times and eventually
I lost it, but as long as it still plays well I dont care how it looks and take it with me everywhere. Ive had it abiut 2 1/2 years now.
the appearance of my 3DS is ALMOST perfect when closed but when you open.... there are nail marks in the Circle pad, the D-pad is cracked(it has small cracks on the corners), the touchscreen has some nasty dust in its corners that refuses to go away, the top screen is marked oh and fingerprints, fingerprints everywhere except the topscreen but it works works perfectly.

If they are as sturdy as the GBA SP it will last a LOOOOOONG time...mine even got juice from charging it many many years ago, only on the outside used marks and no broken buttons/scratchfree screen.(my GB colour's a button is kind of mashed it due to me being a kid playing pokemon all day pressing a)
I highly hope my 3DS will look as good in years to come. @GuSilverFlame how does one break their d-pad? Nail marks? What happened? In general tell your 3DS's story as it sounds quite interesting.
@Therrus it isn't broken it's more like the paint is wearing in forms of cracks and the circle pad's rubber has some small "bumps" from a day I pressed too hard with my nails. nothing too big I just kept it vague to make it look worse than it actually is (I'll post pictures later)

Why are you treating your 3DS's like it's your girlfriend?......
don't say things like that! they've proposed and will marry soon.
