So the other day my 3DS slipped out of my coat pocket and hit the concrete pretty good. The result was few scratches and a minor dent. I'm usually a freak when taking care of my 3DS. My dad covered the dent in red paint, the same color as my 3DS. Luckily it still works. Does it matter about my 3DS condition now?
Well I dont think it will matter unless you trade it in somewhere. Then you might get some credit bumped off for the paint covering the dent. Other then that it probably doesn't matter.

I just feel bad my 3DS was damaged. It'll lose some value after all. I'm not in to trading it for a new XL or anything. Had it since Christmas 2011 and works perfectly. Good condition I guess
My brother dropped my original 3DS multiple times onto concrete and other hard surfaces from 3 feet or higher. As long as it still works, I don't see the problem.
He even dropped my blue XL on the concrete. I was pissed at first, but it doesn't really matter, because it works. He has his own, now.
I accidentally stepped on my 3DS, too. It was in my jeans pocket, and I took off my pants. Then I took a step and I stepped on my jeans (which were on the floor) and put my entire weight on top of the 3DS. I freaked out for a second, but opened it up and there was no damage at all.

I FREAKED OUT when I saw my 3DS's first scratch. I wanted to put a skin or something over it, never wanting see that horrible scratch ever again. Now there are a few dents on the hinge, don't know how those got there either. Poor baby.
I'm quite a maniac when it comes to equipment and keep everything game related in pristine quality. And I wash my hand too, but that's more because I hate fingerprints and grease all over the thing. I don't like my 3DS to be scratched, but as it get's older I'm more tolerant, nothing stays in showroom condition.
A handheld needs to be used, and at some point damage are scars of battle, so don't worry to much.
i hate having my 3DS fall or bump onto something. freak out every time. videogames are holy to me. i even freak out when i see somebody else handling there systems with not enough cautions. really have to keep myself back from not shouting at them
my 3DS has no scratches at all. it once dropped in my bathroom but everything is fine.
Thats why i keep my 3DS in a cushioned case when its not in my hands, and if im on the go, i use the hand strap
Better safe than sorry.
But Nintendos systems are one of the sturdiest out there. I guess the only two systems that had a slightly bigger margain for error were the Wii and the N64. The Wiis disc drive had the tendency to unhook and the N64s jumper / expension pack had heat issues (at least in my case). Other than that, these are systems for a lifetime Even my NES and the old, grey GameBoy are still in perfect shape and working, although i didnt take particular care of both.
My ex girlfriend dropped my original DS and the top screen broke off on one end (the bigger part of the joint) and, well, it still works like a charm. You just have to be careful not to rip tha entire screen off.
The 3DS is extremely durable! I've dropped mine several times; all it has to show for it are a few scratches here and there. It still works like the day I got it!
