Zyph commented on Chris Prangar, Nintendo Treehouse Staffer Who ...:

To all who're mad about this about Nintendo [rightfully] firing an employee. The dude brought it upon himself. He clearly violated NDA policies. He himself acknowledged that. I'm really sorry for him. But that's just how reality works especially with NDAs mixed in. Same with any other company with similar rules and regulations placed upon their workers.

I wish him well!

Zyph commented on The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes Dated, P...:

@Octane Yeah that's one way to interpret it. But of course, considering the retail versions will just be LEs, we can't deny the possibility that they just wanted to lessen the impact if the game tanked sales-wise. And making it into 'try before you buy' eShop title which in Japan isn't like this. Of course, don't get me wrong, I'll still buy the retail version and play the heck out of it. It just seems quite strange overall if you think about it. We don't even know how Devil's Third will be distributed in the Americas.

@Jazzer94 True.

Zyph commented on Wii U Squeezes Past 10 Million Lifetime Sales ...:

Too bad they didn't say anything about how Xenoblade X performed overall. Well maybe that's to be expected since it's still not released in the west. But it wouldn't hurt to know how it fared over in Japan.

Zyph commented on Negative Reception For Devil's Third Is Due To...:

I get what he's trying to get at. Defending his game and all and his first since he founded Valhalla. But he still needs to face reality that his game has a lot of problems. Especially with today's standards. You can only be in denial for too long. Sure I'll buy it. Still looks fun. But that doesn't take away the fact that the game has LOADS of issues. I just hope he supports the game with patches and whatnot post-launch. Mostly focusing on texture updates and performance tweaks. I'm fine with 30fps. Just make it consistent. The visuals personally I don't mind. But it doesn't hurt to improve on them.

Zyph commented on Interview: Warren Spector on the State of Nint...:

Both EM 1 and 2 had both great concepts and design. The only problem was, especially the first one, was more on technical issues rather than the game itself. Sometimes controls are clunky, etc. It's a very good game imho.

Zyph commented on Hyrule Warriors Producer Confirms More Charact...:

Buying the Wii U version, at least for me, is still a better choice, HD and all. This game isn't really a "portable" game to be honest. But I can see people really want their games portable. Even though you still have to buy DLC on the Wii U version it's pretty worth it IMHO. I'm not really tempted on buying Legends just because of the new characters, but let's see.

Zyph commented on Talking Point: Metroid Prime: Federation Force...:

I'm pretty hyped about this game. Just watched the Treehouse live demo replay. And guys please stop being bitter and b*tching around (sorry I normally don't curse). Just because it's not our mainstream Metroid you can just say bash the game however you want. If only Metroid wasn't slapped on the title you'll be singing quite differently, I'm sure.

Zyph commented on FAST Racing NEO Details Finally Exit The Garage:

Slightly Mad can just shove Project Cars Wii U down their thoat! (just kidding;) )

I can feel the hype! Shin'ens the only indie developer that can really take advantage of hardware and display stunning graphics! ^_^
Art of Balance and Nano Assault Neo was already jaw-dropping!

Zyph commented on Video: We Tackle The Dual-Stick vs. Motion Con...:

@aaronsullivan Yeah and you could always use the Y button to instantly set the camera wherever you're inkling is facing. Using both really proved helpful in the demo.

@holygeez03 If I understand correctly, the "pointer" you're talking about is the gyro and the "motion control" is the accelerometer (which is the swinging bit you're talking about). But the motion controls talking about in this article pertains to the gyro w/c is far more precise. So you "aim" with the GamePad itself so that's pretty impressive in itself. It really works when I played Wind Waker HD. So to answer your question, yeah I guess it is.

Zyph commented on Video: We Tackle The Dual-Stick vs. Motion Con...:

I tried both motion aiming and twin sticks. For me it's a mix of both. Gyro controls + up the sensitivity of the right stick and you're game. It really makes the most sense for a chaotic and messy shooter like this at least for me. My aiming is more precise when using the gyro. Oh, and I'm serious about upping the sensitivity of the right stick whichever control scheme you choose.

Zyph commented on Nintendo Assisted Monolith Soft With Xenoblade...:

@errantrazor @edgedino Nintendo owns the entirety of Monolith Soft. Even if they own the studio that does not mean Nintendo also manages the company specifically. Monolith is still a separate entity from Nintendo in one way or another. It still goes without saying that anything Monolith makes, there will still be approvals and discussions and whatnot with Nintendo. Of course, as a 2nd party studio, they still need to work closely with Hitoshi Yamagami, w/c handles production and relations with 2nd and 3rd party developers.

Zyph commented on Nintendo "Currently Investigating" The Idea Of...:

@Quorthon True. But one could argue that the XB1 and PS4 has an ever-growing install base both in JP and in the US/EU. So publishers, in one way or another, won't think twice about getting their games to other territories and those systems. And also [a little off topic], while we're talking about these 2 consoles, let's remember that most of their games out now or soon to be released, were always released in multiple territories. Which pubs like NIS America or even Xseed have an established track record for those system so some JP games are bound to get localized. The games I'm talking about that we keep requesting to be localized are the ones that are mostly geared towards JP culture. It's not just Nintendo. Capcom and some others usually won't bring their games to the west even if you're console is region free or not.
Of course what I said in my first post is far from accurate. It's just an opinion or a (intelligent?) guess in my part. What you're saying might hold more weight than mine.

Zyph commented on Nintendo "Currently Investigating" The Idea Of...:

@97alexk Yeah I get that. But I look at other reasonings behind the restriction as well. P4Arena is a great example. With the difference in price points between regions, one might just wish to import rather than buy the localized version. Which results to lesser sales for the title in your own country or the other, and money spent for localization would just be a total waste, which is bad for the publishers themselves. Of course you could argue that P4A had identical content between regions. But you get the idea.

But yeah in our point of view, region locking it's still a "bad" idea for us consumers. I personally prefer a region-free game system.

Zyph commented on Nintendo "Currently Investigating" The Idea Of...:

I think the only upside of region locking is that it makes people rally up and make their voices heard for games they want to be localized. If the console was region free then people would just instantly import the games, and game companies would be too lazy to localize because of it. Of course, there are loads of counter arguments for this. It's just a matter of pros and cons. But I'm not really sure what weighs more with regard to region locking.

IMHO at least remove region locking for games that are both translated in english. (NA<->EU). Of course the eShop needs to be region free as well for DLC and such.

Zyph commented on Xenoblade Chronicles X Paid-DLC Details Emerge...:

You guys keep complaining but you do know that this is the same case with Fire Emblem and some Atlus games like SMT, right? But no one's complaining about those. If it's a very big scale game then everyone throws a fit. sigh

Zyph commented on Video: Xenoblade Chronicles X May Have Been Su...:

Anyone would be dissapointed. I know I am.
BUT to be fair,
If we were to compare it for example in the fields or city, It's still the same graphics-wise except for that particular scene. And if anyone is familiar with the technicalities of 3D graphics, 'target renders' usually doesn't equate to the final build. Happens to almost all games not just this one. It's still by far the most visually gorgeous game Nintendo and Monolith ever produced.

Zyph commented on Games Consultant Believes Nintendo NX Could Be...:

Even it was just a [intelligent] guess on his part, I highly doubt it's just a "controller" of some sort. It won't just betray long time Nintendo system owners but they will also betray themselves and what they've built over the years. Iwata already stated that it will be a dedicated gaming platform to "reassure" loyal users that they're still in the hardware-software scene and not purely mobile. And those users are console/handheld players which IMHO will feel betrayed if this guess would actually become reality. They also stated that their QOL is another, separate business pillar for them and not necessarily relates to their dedicated gaming business, only the "know-hows".

With all the negativity surrounding Wii U (despite the wonderful line-up they have this year and the next), l doubt they'll just dive into unknown territory that they very well know would just add fuel to the fire. They can't afford to screw up 2 generations in a row.
