Zyph commented on Kotaku Says YES to the Wii U - Rejoicing Begins:
@IxC I can say the same with Polygon though, even if Brian Crecente is over there. That site isn't really much of a Nintendo fan. Most of their articles are [negative] criticisms.
Zyph commented on Hacker Claims to Demonstrate an Exploit to Mod...:
@SamirMalik Yeah. But the Wii was exploited way before Project M.
@WiiUExposed I personally enjoy mods. But they're usually the ones who starts these things and so potential "bad guys" steps in because of it.
Game "mods" always lead to exploits that leads to hardware/system-wide hacking that leads to pirating games. I don't like this.
I used homebrew. I think they're cool and all. But if it should lead to piracy in the long run? Not good...
Zyph commented on Nintendo Files Patent for "Eye Tracking" Devic...:
@Varoennauraa That's a nice idea. Imagine Link's Crossbow Training with the addition of parallax 3D tracking. That game was okay, but with this it can add more variety.
@TheRealThanos Can't find it either. I think it wasn't a DSiWare game but a packaged software. Not sure though. And all of the things you said is true. Thanks for that. It seems these people just takes things for granted. I'm not biased or trying to defend Nintendo in any way, but those "anti-gimmick" guys doesn't even try to see the value in what Nintendo is trying to do (gameplay-wise) even if they won't use them at all. I always thought, what if these "gimmicks" were actually the standard of gaming since long ago and the "traditional" method of playing were the gimmicks. Now the original PS Eye for the PS2 was a gimmick. Not sure for the PS4 though. The Kinect imo isn't 'cause it adds value to games in some ways, but you could argue that most of the games using it says otherwise.
@Link506 The VB was a different story. The hardware itself was a mistake.
@daveh30 Yeah but they're not the first one to use it. And besides the patent focuses on the parallax 3D effect on 2D displays. In Sony's case, they're using Project Morpheus for that. Spectators will still see the game being played normally on the TV. As for the patent, even if you're not the one wearing the glasses or the head mount, you can still see the effect on the 2D display.
@shigulicious IMHO It's not that they can't implement it properly. It's just that consumers just want more from it.
By the way the patent was filed about 4 years ago maybe even before the idea of the GamePad came up. http://www.google.com/patents/US8704879
@ThomasBW84 Yes definitely. After reading the patent filed, I have good hopes for this technology. But I don't see it being used on Wii U though. Maybe on their next hardware perhaps to add to it's feature set.
Aside from Johnny Lee's Wiimote concept, the idea was already implemented on the DSi with Looksley's Line Up using the inner cameras for motion tracking. Remember that game?
The concept of the tech is really amazing if executed properly. I prefer this method for creating 3D parallax "illusions" rather than having to sit directly in front of a 3D TV. I read the whole patent application and there's definitely a lot of potential.

I already aware of the Smash hype. So I'm going with Hyrule Warriors.
Zyph commented on Shigeru Miyamoto Explains His Belief That the ...:
Shooters. A great example of creative immaturity. Yeah they're great and sometimes competitively fun. They have unique aspects to them across all the shooters available. But shooters are still shooters. You fire a gun to kill. That's it. That's basically the premise of these games. Whatever you put on top of that is just icing on the cake IMO. That said, I still enjoy playing some of them. But that's not really the point. Don't even compare them to the hundreds of platformers out there. You can be more creative on those than games constantly firing guns and explosives.

This game looks like a ton of fun! I recommend watching the Splatoon match between NCL devs and the Treehouse guys. So fun to watch. You can clearly see the developers having a blast themselves. Especially Sakaguchi-san.

@MrMeaCulpa Well according to here it's using Unreal Engine rather than the Relic(with combination of Havok tools). https://www.unrealengine.com/blog/unreal-sightings-e3-2014
It's like even if the game bombed he won't have any regrets! I like it!The graphics are cool for me and also the style of combat. It was going to be developed originally for the PS360 afterall. And with all those publisher changes I wouldn't be surprised by the changes up to this point. We still got a year so they can still improve on it visually.

I think what he's implying was having the same or at the very least similar architectures for both their home and handheld consoles and not making a hybrid one that composes of the two.

I already expected Zelda U would be fantastic even before they revealed it at E3. So my #1 pick would be Splatoon. That game looks so much fun. Next would be Captain Toad and Xenoblade X

@6ch6ris6 It's probably the same game but different day/stream.
Zyph commented on Mercedes DLC Confirmed for Mario Kart 8 in the...:
I don't understand this people in the comments.
Even though this kart (car?) doesn't really suit Mario Kart does not mean it doesn't "suit" the game. Your reasoning is because there are already real car simulator games out there and it doesn't fit in the game. You can still get the quirkiness and craziness of Mario Kart just as the other karts available in the game. When was the last time you saw a Mercedes being hit by turtle shells? It's also FREE so why the hate?

@EarthboundBenjy From a video interview by IGN, the devs said in the future, for local co-op, players will be using the Pro Controller. I'm hoping for a local Versus mode using 2 GamePads but it's hard to say and very unlikely to happen.

Mario Kart is a title the grows over years in addition to Nintendo's continuous marketing for the game. So 2nd place is usually fine.

@antdickens Fan service, maybe? She did mention way back that one of her favorite Zelda games was Majora's Mask. But hey who knows why she brought it.
Well...the Mask was actually her's so...

Apparently Hori is making a Wii U "Classic" controller and the GC pad as the base. Not sure if it can also be a "Pro" controller for Wii U.

@slash125 "Wired Fight Pad For Wii and Wii U"
1. It's just a controller previously made by PDP.
2. Because Smash players prefer playing with the GC controller.
@ThomasBW84 Yeah I can see that sorry about how I sounded. It's just that some people goes straight to the comments section and comment because of what they "saw" and not what they "read". It's the reader's own fault.
I think you guys did a wrong move by using that picture to be the article image. Even if you read thru the article it's still confusing and most people would still refer to that as the new pad for Wii U.

Hmmm I'm not sure but is there really a difference between this news and this article via Eurogamer? http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2012/12/wii_u_is_the_greenest_hd_console
EDIT: Yeah at least the new one has energy data on PS4 and XB1.
Zyph commented on Talking Point: The Nintendo Figurine Platform ...:
The problem is that even though Nintendo has these famous characters and IPs, Skylanders has different sets of monster figurines every single time a new game comes out. Unless they make full use of ALL there renowned characters, they'd do well to create new IPs at least for the sake of there figurine line. Now that's a probable money-making machine.

Make the arenas DLC and I'm all-in for Battle Mode. I won't play that mode otherwise. MK64 has the best Battle Mode in any games in the series. I don't even care if it's paid DLC or not.
Zyph commented on Nintendo Looking To "Harvest" 3DS Success To A...:
It's understandable that they would focus on the 3DS to recapture profitability. But that does not mean they'll leave Wii U out. They need that profit driver (3DS) to support their other hardware (Wii U). You guys would do well to actually read the the statements in the briefing.

@Peach64 Silicon game cards can be read and written faster like it was soldered onto the system and of course depending on how it was manufactured. Disks on the other hand...
Oh and resistive touchscreens are more precise IMO. And there are multi-touch resistive touch panels in the market. Capacitive ones are sensitive...but that's just about it.
I'll never forego physical media. To each their own I guess.
Zyph commented on Nintendo Quashes Rumours Of New Hardware At E3...:
Don't hate on IGN (Peer Schneider). He himself said they were just rumours that's why they didn't bother to report on it. Better listen to the podcasts yourselves. You say IGN keep bashing on Nintendo? Well..maybe you could say that to some editors there, but the IGN Nintendo team are really fond and fans of Nintendo.
And remember when they [Nintendo] also squashed rumours on new systems in the past and to see later it actually true? The most recent one I believe was the 3DS XL.

I know theres a need for some changes when considering localization but personally I don't approve of this. I liked the original design. If that was the designer's original vision for the character's looks and a whole lot of people likes it then I'll gladly choose the original.
