@johnvboy we are not talking about 4K or Raytracing. Those things do not make a bad game better. However, it is clear that the Switch is starting to show its age and performance issues affect gameplay.
Yes, games like Breath of the Wild are so great that we ignore subpart resolution and frame rate issues....but that doesn't apply to every title.
Also important is the fact that the gap with Microsoft and Sony has become so huge, that most 3rd party titles are skipping the Switch altogether.
Just like with previous Nintendo consoles, the time between big releases is way too long....they got lucky this time since the WiiU didn't sell and they are mostly re-releasing old ports, otherwise the software situation would be even worse.
What is sad is that the Switch keeps selling at $300. I mean, Nintendo is selling ancient hardware at a premium....they obviously love it, but the least they can do is upgrade the hardware to run games at 1080p at the very least 🤷♂️
Since I got my PS5 a barely touch the Switch....the PS5 runs PS4 games at 4k/60 so I'm playing many games I had ignored.
I played the demo for Age of Calamity and couldn't.....the performance is just terrible.
@Razer actually, even though they announced that they were restarting development (which was actually refreshing and honest) it is clear that they announced the game WAY too early.
Hopefully some developers have learned their lessons. I much rather have reveals like Paper Mario or Demons Souls on PS5....announced when development is pretty much finished and with a clear path to release.
Announcing games that are years away to hide the lack of current releases should not be something platform holders do.
Nintendo had a pretty abysmal 2020 (outside Animal Crossing) and 2021 is sadly not looking much better.
The Switch is almost 4.....and it's become an Indie / port Machine.

This is getting ridiculous. Why did they announce this and Metroid 4? I haven't played my Switch in months.
Hoping there's more than Pokemon Snap and Mario 3D World (that I've already played on the WiiU) in the next few months....
Re: Japanese Charts: Astral Chain Just Misses Out On Number One As Switch Sales Soar
I think this game is probably selling more from then eShop.
In Japan the physical copy is ¥8,000 while you can get the download for ¥4,900 with the Nintendo online coupons.
That's how I got my copy.
