@SuperWeird Hey I made a Metroid level, too. It's called Super Mariotroid, lol. It's based more on the original Metroid, and unfortunately I didn't have Samus unlocked when I made it so you play as Mario. Still fun though. Here's the code if you want to check it out: 902D-0000-00E1-0EB0
I must say I agree with Link O'Fett and darthmix (nice starwars names btw), except that I don't think Nintendo made a platformer that topped it until NSMB for DS (excluding Super Metroid, of course). I'm still wondering if anyone has ever beaten SMB3 in the frog suit.
I understand what you mean, Drake, and 4 out of 5 ain't bad. I guess that's the nature of rating sequels (Halo 1 and 2 rate better than 3; Prime 1 rates better than Prime 3...). However, I am a huge Mario fan and having this game is incredibly awesome. Like you said, if you're a fan of the series, it's worth a download!
I don't get how Super Mario Bros. gets 5 stars and Lost Levels only gets 4. This game has everything the original has and more- more levels, higher difficulty, better replay value (due to the fact two characters can be selected from and four new worlds can be unlocked by beating it over and over), slightly better graphics...
I downloaded this game today and, after playing for several hours, achieved not only the nostalgic excitement of playing SMB for the first time when I was eight, but a whole new excitement of its own. This game is CHALLENGING and FUN!
I already own All Stars for SNES (and still play it occasionally). I don't care if it comes out for VC. I am interested in the original version of Lost Levels though. I think I'll download this one, and wait for SMB3 to come out, whenever Nintendo gets around to releasing it.
I wonder if they will also release Doki Doki Panic?
Here's another vote for a 2D Metroid for Wii!! I love the Primes, but think about how amazing a new Metroid platformer could be with the Wii's capabilities. Maybe throw in the whole 2D/3D dimensional swapping from Super Paper Mario...? It could be really cool.
I agree with the majority of the posts here- SM is the all-time greatest Metroid game ever made. I still own it on my SNES, but will download anyway for sake of convenience.
I wonder when SMB3 (all-time greatest Mario game ever made) will be released-perhaps a week before Galaxy? That seems to be the trend with the franchise games on the Virtual Console so far: release the retro games before or around the same time as the next gen version to raise the hype. Pretty clever if you ask me, my VC library is proof of that!
This is the biggest waste of money I've spent on the Virtual Console. The game play reminds me of watching Sesame Street, the dialog struggles to meet even the most arbitrary criteria of interest, and the fighting sequences remind me of playing Chess against a retard. Accordingly, I recommend this game ineligible for inclusion on anyone's list of Virtual Console downloads. If you want a quality RPG of the same generation, hopefully Nintendo will release FFIII or Chrono Trigger. This game sucks.
I agree with Wolf- we need the OG SMB2 from Japan released on the Virtual Console. Playing it as Lost Levels on SNES doesn't give us the classic experience (I'm not partial to the steel drum version of the soundtrack). I want the 8 bit quality sounds and graphics! But what would it be titled since Super Mario Bros. 2 is already listed?
Oh yeah, love the US version of SMB2 also- I still think it should get 5 stars.
Best 2 player fighting game I've ever played. I still own it and play it often with buddies on the SNES. I recommend a download if you like to drink and go to battle.

I give it 5 stars- no question.
