Re: Pixel Paint Lands On North America’s Wii U eShop This Week In All Its Retro Glory

Hey all - I created Pixel Paint and I thought I'd pop in and clear some things up!

The reason the trailer was made in this way is that there was no good way to capture footage of it in use - the TV view is simply your full pixel art in all it's glory, so you can zoom in on the gamepad and still get a full picture. I don't have a way to capture from a gamepad, so I had to get a little creative.

Specifics on Pixel Paint itself - there are multiple canvas sizes to choose from, both a square and circle brush of any size, with a handy overlay as you're changing size. Cut/copy/undo/redo. Retro color palettes. Color fill and color replace. It sounds like the pixel artists I gave the application tool are craving at least a line tool, if not multiple shapes, so that'll be in eventually. Also planned is exporting to the SD card. And of course, you can upload to Miiverse.

It's simply a drawing application ala Art Academy: Sketchpad. Pixel art is one of the easier styles of art to get in to, especially for gamers, so even if you aren't an artist you should try it (even if not using Pixel Paint!).
