The man designed two of Nintendo’s icons… as well as some of the early arcade designs. That should garner some respect on numbers alone. My question is… he was almost to 40 years… like months away… why retire before you hit that number? The service awards there are crazy good… the 40 year plaque hanging on the walls there would have gotten his name on it among the other few folks that made it that long. That’s like stopping just shy of the line in Mario Kart for 10th place. That kills me that after 39+ years, he won’t be on that plaque.
Collecting FC and SFC has been a downright pleasure. You can still find a lot of good condition and in box games as well as systems. Family Basic is just amazing… too bad it never made it to NES
@jedisquidward that photo was from the Switch reveal in NYC. I was on the “tabletop mode” demo display which was set up like a plane flight. Those 2 were wandering around before the fans were allowed in… just playing games and checking out the space. It was amazing to just see them playing Gunfight and having a good time. I posted the video of their gunfight on my Instagram. Two of the greatest minds in gaming just trying to shoot it out. Anyway, that’s the background, but it’s the gaming highlight of my life meeting those guys.
@Inc you can’t properly imagine… on the other hand, it’s a bit like being a bacon fanatic and getting a job making bacon. Thankfully, I never lost my love of bacon before I left.
