Re: Critically Acclaimed 2D Sekiro-Like 'Nine Sols' Has Been Rated For Switch

Shigarui

@Pod It is not unlike the quick reflex focused Hollow Knight and The Messenger, although this combat is much more about being up on your opponent and parrying their attacks rather than keeping out of reach between attacks. That is the biggest difference. There are not nearly as many hidden areas, most of the time you can recognize that there is somewhere within the room that you are able to go, it is just a matter of figuring out a path there. I still think you will enjoy it, and the world building is really well done also. You definitely get enough of the backstory to fill in some blanks and realize just how depraved their pursuit of knowledge was.

Shigarui

@Freek Bo came out after this. But it's a very different feeling game. Nine Sols is actually pretty dark and unnerving. It's like Sekiro, Aeon Flux, and Shigurui Death Frenzy had a baby. The combat is very fast paced and parry heavy. The story involves a lot of "science gone too far" and is fairly brutal. It is definitely one the best Metroidvania's I've played though. I would say it's closer to Blasphemous than Hollow Knight. But definitely a 9/10, and I can't wait to have it come to Switch also.
