@DetJayT
Actually you can't.
Most physical games require a system update before they can be played. Said system update requires a connection to nintendo's servers...
Edit: this was initially response to the comment that you can still play physical media on a banned switch 2
@LuigiBlood I think the biggest issue a lot of the media is overlooking is that unlike previous console these "console bans" can't be reversed, which is an issue for 2nd hand sales where they legally HAVE to reverse it, since the new owner has not yet connected to the online services and so hasn't agreed to the terms that make it legal for Nintendo to block their access. (And even if they had Nintendo can't simply arbitrarily block access unless they can prove the new owner has broken their rules) This applies at the very least in the UK and I believe much of Europe too, where the second hand market has a lot of provisions that protect consumers from companies that try to prevent second hand sales. (Buyers at least have a lot of protection)
I think they announced this way too late.
There will be people that purchased the PC version or ps4/5 version based on the expectation that the game wasn't coming to switch 2 anytime soon.
Tbh even if that is how the developer pronounces it, doesn't mean it's the correct pronunciation, it could just be his accent coming through. There are plenty of words that you can pronounce perfectly in your head but you butcher the pronunciation when spoken, usually due to your accent and especially local dialects.
For example if I try to pronounce balatro, due to my north Lancashire accent it would come out as Buh-Luh-troh with both the As being silent.
@Kestrel Nintendo has had similar systems in place since the GBA/Gamecube era, even now I know people that exclusively buy physical games, redeem the gold points and use those to claim 100% free digital games.
Just gotta wait and see what bonuses are available here in the UK. Nintendo has a weird habit here of either not giving us any bonuses, not allowing pre-orders and then selling out of the bonus items within seconds of launch or releasing the pre-order bonuses as separate purchases weeks/months after the game launches. (the latter is what happend with xenoblade 3)
Back when it was called NintendoVIP the postage was free and the points never expired, these days it's hard to save enough points for anything good due to their expiry time and when you do get something you still have to pay the shipping costs. The quality of the items also seems to have dropped significantly over the years, I'm still using this keyring from sometime around 2004: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lYEE3IRxC3SOFE_PpGBOCRX7RaX_Vnkp/view?usp=drivesdk Iirc it cost 5,000 stars (with free shipping). I seems to be made from stainless steel or a similar metal, doesn't feel or sound tin-y when struck.

Re: Random: Mario & Luigi: Brothership Glitch Lets You Get All 5 Power Taps Early
I suppose the question is: Is this a glitch or a sneaky way to make the game easier for unskilled players?
