Re: Japan's National Library Says Game-Key Cards Are Not Eligible For Preservation

@Saints Not true. Digital data lasts forever so long as the storage medium is kept maintained. This is why creating your own digital archive is the most reliable form of preservation. HDDs and even SSDs are super cheap these days, and you can get a lot of storage at reasonable prices. I keep all of my movies, music, TV shows, ROMs, etc. on an external 4 TB drive, and when this drive starts to reach the end of its lifespan, I'll just image it to another drive.

Re: Random: Geez, PS5 Game 'Anime Life Sim' Sure Looks Familiar

@-wc- "AC hater"? Do you really let a mundane game get to you that badly? What did it do, make you realize that you have the creativity of a tube sock? Like, I don't like Fortnite, but I don't go out of my way to actively hate it. That's just a super weird thing to waste energy on.

Re: Random: Super Mario 64 GBA Project Showcases "Real Hardware" Demo

@HingryHuppo Ooooh, I get it. You don't actually know what you're talking about. See, the "scene" encompasses a lot more than the little toy you're so defensive of. Since the 80s, reversers have purely existed in this community to make both hardware and software do what it's touted to not be able to do. There's major overlap between demos and warez because of this. Look into the history of Razor1911 some time. They aren't just a crack team.

Re: Nintendo Files Two New Lawsuits In Continued Clamp Down On Switch Piracy

Joom

@WaffleRaptor01 Do you know what false equivelence is? Because that's what you're doing. You're comparing the copying of intangible data to literal, physical theft. Data piracy is not theft in this sense because the only loss is theoretical. Piracy also helps drive sales. This crap has been studied to death already, but there's always someone like you who tries to shoehorn their skewed perception of morality into the subject.
