@PlywoodStick I have to admit, I've never heard of GameCentral but it seems you're referring to the gaming secton of the Metro? I don't imagine that would influence many people, doesn't show much on search results at all and is a relatively small media outlet. The interview seems very much 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. They were disappointed that they didn't announce games that would be coming out in 2 to 3 years time, something that many people have bemoaned at such events before. Announcing a game so long in advance without gameplay and then going radio silent. That's sheer hype.

I also don't believe he'd be far wrong in the view that the majority don't care about 60fps. I'd prefer it and I think it will be requested more by the general consumer in the future but it certainly isn't at the forefront of the general consumers mind at this time. I'd say the majority wouldn't even be aware of it or it's benefits. I'm not talking about the likes of us who comment on gaming sites, we're not that demographic.

Anyway, that's going off on a tangent. I generally hear good things about Phil Spencer, I'm sure he's said some stupid stuff, like any of the top dogs at Sony, Nintendo or Microsoft have done countless times over countless years. Bound to happen when you're constantly under the microscope and ultimately at the hands of the company too.

Compared to Don, the difference is night and day.

I'm surprised some people think this would be the last Xbox console. They're not going anywhere anytime soon.

I think if you'd wish for them to disappear it wouldn't benefit anyone either.

It's become clear that the switch isn't in direct competition with either console. People are willing to have the switch on top of either the PS4 or X1 in most cases. They offer something different.

Usually a lack of competition leads to grave mistakes and complacency. So I think Sony would go down hill without someone like MS about and vice versa. They've rarely put a foot wrong in recent years, where as Sony seem to have had a few hiccups (sales still strong though). They had a poor start and exclusives haven't been solid enough.

Games like Sunset Overdrive have been fantastic though and Sea of Thieves has had great feedback so far. There's signs they're starting to get things right with exclusives. Phil Spencer has been a breath of fresh air imo. Not sure how anyone could call him a typical corporate exec.

Long live Ninty, MS and Sony. Together the industry is stronger.
