Re: Turn Your Retro Cartridges Into ROMS, Legally

CapedGodot

As for the legality, I'm not sure anyone here fully understands copyright law (myself included). It's extremely complex, with numerous exceptions. As far as I can understand, this tool seems illegal. Copied from nintendo's official site:
"Are Game Copying Devices Illegal?

Yes. Game copiers enable users to illegally copy video game software onto floppy disks, writeable compact disks or the hard drive of a personal computer. They enable the user to make, play and distribute illegal copies of video game software which violates Nintendo's copyrights and trademarks. These devices also allow for the uploading and downloading of ROMs to and from the Internet. Based upon the functions of these devices, they are illegal."

Also: "Yes. Personal Websites and/or Internet Content Providers sites That link to Nintendo ROMs, Nintendo emulators and/or illegal copying devices can be held liable for copyright and trademark violations, regardless of whether the illegal software and/or devices are on their site or whether they are linking to the sites where the illegal items are found."
This is what I gather on the topic.

Grrr, why does EVERYONE jump to Kirby's Retarded Yarn as an example of a good platformer? It was terrible! ESPECIALLY compared to Kirby's Return to Dreamland.

SIX?!?! ARE YOU MAD? Seriously. I've never disagreed with a review on here more than this one. (Except maybe Epic Yarn)
This game is awesome, an I've pretty much never had camera problems. This game deserves at very least, an 8.

Re: Current Wii Model to be Discontinued

CapedGodot

This is ridiculous. Nintendo isn't "bad off" at all. They're just doing what will make them the most money. So the 3DS hasn't sold well yet? Big deal. Have we all forgotten the Virtual Boy? It sold terribly, and yet Nintendo didn't miss a beat. They got right back on track. The same will happen/is happening now. Besides, they haven't even announced what the pricing of this new model will be. You're just assuming that it won't be any cheaper.

Re: NOA Will Be Watching European Xenoblade Chronicles Sales Closely

They're a corporation. They don't care about you, no matter how much you think/hope/wish they do. They do what makes them the most money. And they know what makes them money better than any of us. While "Operation Rainfall" may seem big to you, it's really rather small compared to the demographic required by Nintendo to make a suitable profit. The argument of every one of you has now been made to be invalid.

That 3D Zero Suit idea sound nifty (and not Just for that reason, pervs). It would be cool to have more stealth-type gameply, since the part in ZM was woefully short. Other than that, we do need a full-2D/2.5D Metroid game. It''s been too long.

@5 It does tell you what to do. It teaches you controls as you get items, and if you flounder around for too long, it'll nudge you a bit and tell you where the next important room is.

Re: Talking Point: Your 25 Years of Metroid Memories

My first Metroid experience was a poor choice on my part. A year ago, I saw a Super Metroid Bossless Item run race/challenge thing on a forum which I frequented. Having no prior experience in the Metroid universe, I decided to be stupid and try it anyway. I got to Norfair before my rage caused me to delete the ROM and the emulator. After that traumatic incident, I decided that I hated Metroid. Fast-forward to last April: 3 and a half months ago. I had the opportunity to borrow Metroid Prime Trilogy, so I decided to give the series the benefit of the doubt. I fell in love with it nearly immediately.I beat the first two before I decided to try any 2D games again. The first 2D I tried was Fusion, and I loved it. I've now played every Metroid game except Prime Hunters (I'll buy it soon) and Other M (I'm borrowing it from a friend as soon as possible). In less than 4 months, Metroid has become my favorite video game series.

I'll be buying a Metroid game in today's honor. Probably Metroid 2, but maybe a different one, depending on the inventory of the game store. It took me until this past April to discover just how awesome this series is (it's now become my favorite Nintendo series, toppling the previous holder of that title, Donkey Kong), and since then, I've beaten every game except Prime Hunters, Other M, and Prime Pinball. I can't wait to try them, and I'm looking forward to Samus's future.
