@somnambulance hard disagree about the games - I think there’s certainly good ones there. And the novelty is the whole point - experiencing the strangeness of it. As I said, certainly not for everyone but a fun experience if you want to experience the weirder side of Nintendo.
@Nontendo_4DS yeah - it’s odd that I wouldn’t do that too but am happy to bury my face in the real thing. Gutted they didn’t pull the trigger on 3DS. I think it could’ve been a great addition to the system for fans who’ve always wondered about it.
@EarthboundBenjy that surprises me - especially if you’re an enthusiast and a collector. I was very lucky, charity shop find years ago for about £70. Pre internet. Absolute steal. Hope you find one one day that you can snatch up because it is a fun little weird thing.
@EvilSilentFrame a good game is always a good game - and this has a few. But it’s certainly not essential. More the experience for me. Do you remember what you played?
@Ryu_Niiyama you keep that card! No one can tell you what makes you a fan - particularly an idiot such as myself. For me, I like it when Nintendo get weird and have a good time whenever I fire it up. The experience is something that I think is a blast to try.
@StarryCiel thanks for the heads up! I’ll check those out. If you’re going to emulate I’d definitely recommend a method that allows the 3D to be intact - particularly for teleroboxer. Great fun.
@JayJ having experienced both I’d urge you to try the real deal if you can, particularly if it has piqued your interest before. The depth illusion definitely elevates the gameplay. I wasn’t kidding about getting one then selling it on! Totally viable option if you have the means to acquire one.
@Coalescence I love this post and agree with pretty much all of it. I’d love to finish Mario clash one day but it will never happen without saves! And people forget teleroboxer which is genuinely very good - in large part because of how the system and its presentation sucks you in. Looking at that flashcart too. Also much prefer it to VR because it is more ‘gamey’. The most marmite console I can think of but I love how weird it is.
@LadyCharlie having experienced both you definitely lose some of the magic with emulation. To some extent I’d argue the depth illusion is what makes them worth playing.
@Poodlestargenerica Jack Bros is great if a little short. Teleroboxer is definitely worth a shot too. I’m intrigued by your plan for a homemade console! Is it a thing that’s been done??

@CammyUnofficial they did it with LABO! Reckon they’ll do a full console one day?
Re: Talking Point: As A Nintendo Fan, Do You Really Need To Play The Virtual Boy?
@MattmanForever given its display I think a ‘rose tinted glasses’ joke here is too easy. Mad how much they go for!
Re: Talking Point: As A Nintendo Fan, Do You Really Need To Play The Virtual Boy?
@Lizuka I can understand people not gelling with it, it’s certainly got its faults. What games did you play?
