I confirmed this info with Nintendo today. Bought a New Special Edition Animal Crossing Switch for my fiancé's birthday after weeks of searching. Only to discover that my fiancé won't be able to transfer her save data from her current Switch to the new Animal Crossing Switch. WTF Nintendo, why would they release a Special Edition Switch with limited availability so people can't get a hold of one, so then TONS of people are going to invest heaps of time into their games on their current switches and when they finally get a new special edition or if they upgrade their Switch, guess what.. all that time you put into your game... GONE. Complete B.S. Now I have to give my Fiancé this awesome switch and follow it up with "but you are going to have to start a completely new island from scratch, so your month of grinding and work put into your island... all gone!" What a damper on the surprise that'll be. Thanks Nintendo!
