Mario Kart Tour has just received a new update, bringing the game up to a nice round 'Version 3.0.0'. There's not a great deal to note here, as the update appears to be mainly preparation for the upcoming Battle Mode and Spotlight Shop which, as previously reported, is Nintendo's alternative to the game's long-running gacha elements.
There are, however, also a couple of quality-of-life updates, which is always nice to see!
Here are the full patch notes:
・ Made preparations for Battles, a new way to play.*
・ Made preparations for the Spotlight Shop, where you'll be able to exchange rubies for drivers and more.*
・ The best score you've ever achieved on each course will now be recorded.
・ You can now play the next course directly from the race results screen.*These are scheduled to be provided for future tours.
Players can still currently take part in the Anniversary Tour, which kicked off on September 20th to celebrate the game's third anniversary.
Are you still playing Mario Kart Tour? Will the addition of Battle Mode and the removal of gacha elements tempt you back in? Let us know in the comments!

I just want these battle maps to come to MK8 DX. And all the tracks. And the costumes and characters. Just keep the ball rolling. Why do we even need a Mario Kart 9? We all know it would launch with like 15 characters with the promise of more coming later as "free" updates, anyways. I'd rather just have one game with all the content.
Edit: I didn't realize they have a trailer that shows off the cookie track from Double-Dash. After seeing it, I'm convinced they have to be planning a Booster Battle Pass, because the track just looks too freakin' pretty for a mobile game. Fingers crossed...
Cookie Land is a very good pick, loved that map on Wii (though out of all the battle maps from Wii, Funky Stadium and Delfino Pier are the objective best ones and I will not hear anything to the contrary).
Battle tracks getting added to Tour gives me the tiniest smidge of hope that we could potentially get new battle tracks in 8 Deluxe as either free DLC or as part of the BCP but I know for a fact that that line of thinking will just lead me down disappointment lane. Oh well.
So the Battle Mode trailer confirms GCN Cookie Land and GBA Battle Course 1. Would be nice if all the battle arenas that aren't in MK8 Deluxe but come to Tour do make the jump though I'm aware that for the racetracks there'll be a bunch of tracks that don't make the cut unless Nintendo chooses to do a 2nd Booster Course Pass (please do more DLC instead of MK9).
Is it possible Tour will be available to play in Belgium after they disable the gacha elements? Wanted to play for a while but don't think it's worth the hassle just to play it over here.
getting completely wrecked after reaching tier 50 so this will be a nice distraction. Is this normal or just a harsh couple of weeks? Won 4 months straight before that.
Lots of other changes, including the addition of a multiplayer pipe, increases to player level, tier level, multiplayer grade cap, and base points caps, and buffs to several items (Bubble can finally be popped). What's also cool is that battle mode seems to be elimination based for the first time since Wii instead of on a timer, and that they took a page from Bomberman and incorporated the ability to throw items from the sidelines after being eliminated.
@PikaPhantom
Ah, the very know revenge mode in Bomberman, i would like that will include the super revenge, if you are defeated and in revenge, your KO an active opponent, you will take her/his place and continue in competition.
