Following the 3DS system update late last month, Nintendo has now issued another one. This bumps the system up to Version 11.16.0-49. Here are the full patch notes, courtesy of Nintendo's support website:
Ver. 11.16.0-49U (September 12th, 2022)
"Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience."
Dataminer OatmealDome has shed some light on this latest system update (via @snbeast6). Apparently, it's been issued because there was a "missing digit" in the Nintendo support phone number.
"Version 11.16.0-49 was released, a minor revision to the previous firmware. The sole change is to fix a typo (missing digit in the Nintendo support phone number) in text added in the last update. Homebrew is unaffected and it is safe to update."
The previous update (Version 11.16.0-48) was also a stability update but included some updates to the 3DS eShop, web browser, and a few other areas.

STABILITY BABYYYYYYYYYYYYY
3DS DOES WHAT SWITCH DON'T
Speaking of updates, where's the latest Switch update?
Nintendo delivers again! This update was what everyone was waiting for!
Wait, another updates again?
Man.... I will update my four 3DS XL again tonight.
does the 3DS really needs more stability? it's stabled enough as it is!
I just updated mine today...
Is it safe to download this if my 3ds is modded?
I'm in the most stable relationship with a game console ever!
@Truegamer79 Yeah updates are safe.
This is probably another attempt from Nintendo to shut down the homebrew scene which has been a losing battle for years.
I need more stability in my life. Goes and downloads
The 3DS has been getting more updates lately than the Switch.
A typo was corrected in this update. There was a missing character on a phone number.
We are still waiting for the grand finale of stability updates. I believe it is when Nintendo ceases to provide online services on the 3DS.
If there is one thing I've noticed about my 3DS this late in it's life is just how crazy unstable it is! Hopefully this will fix that.
Thank you Nintendo for fixing that one digit in a phone number it was causing my 3ds to be unstable
cool now make snes games available on older models its obviously possible
This is what the whole direct is about tomorrow!!! Weeee!! In all seriousness, it's about trying to shut down mods and try to brick the portable.
This update literally just fixes a typo in the customer service info. That’s it. That’s the whole update.
Maybe I’ve been playing too much Splatoon but it seems to me there is a Dev at Nintendo who is actively messing up phone numbers while another Dev is trying to regain stability. Who will win this turf war!?
Somewhere there's a joke about a stable for a dead horse.
But ironically, I'm currently playing my 3DS most, just got Stella Glow for 5 euro's on the European Atlus 3DS eshop sale. In case anyone is interested, Etrian Odyssey 4, Untold 1 and 2, and Persona Q are also at their lowest ever prices, 4 or 5 euro's, depending. RPG Maker is just 3.
So is it still easy to hack the Nintendo 3DS?
One thing I hate about the article image is the lack of new 3DS (smaller model). Off-topic, but w/e
Would be nice if they updated the browser’s certificates so you could log into Twitter for ImageShare.
...
An entire "stability" update...
For a single digit...
...
What a stable world we live in!
@Truegamer79 Yes
is it safe for hacked consoles?
im surprised by the fact that my damn samsug galaxy s10 literally has less update support despite the fac that its far newer than a 3ds
'Stability' meaning 'yet another attempt to stomp down the CFW crowd that will work around it within ten minutes'. Just give it up, Nintendo. Let it go.
@sveppelito Yep, folk on GBATemp have updated and both Luma and BootNTR are working fine apparently.
They've updated the support phone number at the end of support...just because they can wow ... just ... wow
