Still no thanks, Square Enix.
It's still baffling how they ruined this game... It could have been a good Mario Kart clone but no.... It had to have MTX.
Same here, I still find it crazy how this game went from high potential to just absolute garbage because of how it was handled. I would've loved to burn rubber with Vivi and Steiner but alas.
This game would be good if it were a completely different game.
This game would work as a bad mobile game.
This game should have just been an NFT.
Is anyone still playing it?
Thanks for buying our game!
Now please pay an indefinite sum of money on “premium” DLC to unlock your ability to play it!
@Yosher Exact same thing happened with the Cristal Chronicles remake. In that case they made the multiplayer of a multiplayer focused game tedious...
I don't get why SquareEnix seems to fail so much recently with Final Fantasy spin-offs. Even with those that should have been easy to do.
@jowe_gw Corporate greed is probably why. At least in the case of this Chocobo game, but I wouldn't be surprised if it also played a role in Crystal Chronicles.
@Yosher About the Cristal Chronicles game that seems more like pure incompetence. Like, why does that game have no local coop when it was a local coop game originally? Why is the online so poorly implemented that they even removed features from the original game because they apperantly couldn't implement them all these years later? UGH.
The Chocobo game seems like both things: greed and incompetence. The fact that of all the games, this one got MTX is just so scummy. A kid focused FF spin-off game that is not F2P and is on the same platform than MK was deemed a good place to put MTX.
Thankfully this game dropped relatively fast in price. This gives me hope for the gaming community.
My money is on Paw Patrol Grand Prix instead.
Adios !
I will buy it when they update the price to zero dollars.
checks patch notes
Still no improvements to the issue where a priced game has microtransactions and season pass to be fully enjoyed.
My wallet will have to wait
@HollowSpectre
I was ... to figure out how to play it ... until it would not start.
At least I didn't pay for it .. and now I no longer have it.
More to that point, it was instructive that matchmaking would take an extraordinary amount of time — and occasionally would just prematuring end the GP.
@jowe_gw Are you talking about Chocobo GP? Because that is f2p. It has limitations with predatory MTX, but it is f2p and the lite version offers more than I thought it would.
Unless they changed things to limit you even more recently, I don't know, haven't played in a while.
It's not F2P at all whether or not you grind GP mode w/o cashing in, considering Chocobo GP requires NSO in the first place...
Meanwhile, so nothing has changed. As expected, and I have no hopes for it to get better anymore (but goshdarnit I'd love to be wrong...).
I'll be able to sell my physical copy of it later today; someone else has shown interest for it, and have been made aware of what's to come, for half its SRP (though honestly its value should've been much less...). Good riddance for me; I hope its new owner would enjoy it more than we 5 siblings did (or the lack of it).
