If Cult of the Lamb has been whetting your appetite for cutesy-meets-creepy, then wrap your peepers around Beacon Pines, an upcoming storybook-like game about a small town with an unfolding mystery.
Does that sound like Twin Peaks/Night in the Woods/Life is Strange/[insert Netflix TV show here] to you? Good! Weird towns are one of the flavours du jour, and we're not complaining!
You'll be playing as Luka, a little anthropomorphic deer who accidentally stumbles on something strange happening at their town's old warehouse. With his friends, he'll get to sneak out late, discover hidden truths, and make decisions that can change the events of the world.

What makes Beacon Pines unique is The Book, which allows you to navigate the game's various branches and story trees to rewrite the past and change everything for the better... or worse.

Beacon Pines will be launching on Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PC on September 22nd, for $19.99. It will also be coming to Xbox Game Pass.

A small town with an unfolding mystery sounds like anything. That sounds very little like Twin Peaks so far - and Twin Peaks is not a Netflix show.
TP has more nuance and miles
more depth than a small town mystery. You'll have to do much better to use the comparison. Or I will publicly mock you with more knowledge about that particular program than any person has a right to know.
@Sonos By Netflix TV Show, I think they mean Stranger Things...but they obviously mean on the surface level. Kinda like how Link's Awakening was inspired by Twin Peaks.
That bouncy animation style is really en vogue at the moment huh? That and visual novel-esque dialogue with hyper-stylized characters that take up half the screen.
Honestly it looks great for the people who are into those elements, so I hope they enjoy it!
Mhmm bacon pies.....
I don't know what twin peaks is, but the art style of this game is super cute and I often enjoy games which are hybrids between visual novels and more active gameplay. This is definitely one I'll keep an eye on.
Someone said "Twin Peaks" and that happens to be my summoning phrase, so here I am.
I didn't see a blonde woman wrapped in plastic in the trailer, so I'm not sure how peak-sy this game is, but I'll keep my eye on it.
I would be impressed if they subvert the player with the cutesy graphics and actually deliver a dark/wtf-esqe experience like the show Twin Peaks, but I have to keep expectations low.
I'll see you all in the Red Room.
@Astral-Grain that gum you like is going to come back in style
If not twin peaks at least be dual spires.
