Sure sure sure, okay, this is probably of interest to very specific kinds of people — but if that's you, then congratulations, my friend. You've just found the soundtrack to your next few hours.
At this point in time, you've probably already heard of lo-fi hip hop radio - beats to study/relax to, a never-ending radio-style playlist that contains nothing but gentle, non-distracting music that's perfect for study/relax to. It's become visually synonymous with the "Lofi Girl", an animation in an anime style of a girl writing in a notebook with headphones on.
In making Alex Chen's version of the Lofi Girl, Deck Nine have included references to Life is Strange (Hot Dog Man!) and plenty of voice lines from the game peppered in between the songs. Plus, it's a pretty nice hour-long playlist to listen to while you work (or study/relax), and while the song names aren't listed, we assume they're all from the game itself.
Unfortunately, we won't be able to check until Life is Strange: True Colors comes to Nintendo Switch, and we don't know when that is yet. The game came out on all other platforms last week, on September 9th. Watch this space for more details as we know them!

this just radiates "LOOK HOW HIP AND IN TUNE WITH THE YOUTH WE ARE" energy just like the actual games lol
Isn't this just called Muzak?
Inoffensive, meandering sounds to invoke no feeling or thought whatsoever.
Like staring at a white wall. And this is popular with the current generation? I see.
@Nontendo_4DS (Suddenly thinks of Yo-kai Watch's Chilled Cowcao)
This is great! I am playing this on PS4 and the soundtrack is lovely. It's really nice how this series is becoming a little more mainstream, and Switch players are in for a treat.
I'm here for this! Will be good to pop on while I get some work done in the next day or so.
Dope. Been getting into Lo-Fi lately. Nice to listen to at the end of the day before bed or studying.
I mean if there ever was a time to mention my own Lofi project, now would be it 😅. It's "Cats In Bed" and it's linked in my profile, in case you wanna check it out 😄. My friend and i appreciate every listen, it's still a super small project.
Aaaanyway, I'm curious to try the game out. If it's music from the game i wonder if it really has that much lofi in it 😄.
How do even 'get' into this. It's like getting into tap water.
@StefanN I will definitely check it out for you.
Love the game, by the way! Got the plat for it on PS5 this morning. Might be my favorite in the series so far. Also, my wife will really enjoy this, I’m sure. Didn’t realize these lo-fi playlists were a youth thing, honestly. We listen to them all the time as background music when people come over.
As someone that has had major trouble sleeping more than a few hours a night due to broken sleep and often find myself taking 2am walks, i will deffo give this a try. Listened to the first 5 minutes and it was great. Lay back, close your eyes and just empty your head of everything. Sure it will be a miracle if it works as ive tried everything from a bucket load of sleep sounds, tibetan bells, Japanese koto music to meditation. No harm in trying this tho.
@StefanN Really like Finding Joy and Strolling Around Downtown. Look forward to hearing more!
@Nontendo_4DS Wouldn't be surprised. I personally love the Yokai Watch games.
For those trashing lo-fi as a concept, I have ADHD and stuff like this helps massively when I’m trying to concentrate. Same as ambient stuff like Eno, classical piano like Satie etc. Repetition without too much loud or brash noises does wonders. Although even that depends on what kinda day it is. Sometimes Atari Teenage Riot or John Coltrane’s more intense stuff can overstimulate my brain to the point that I can hold onto whatever task I’m trying to do. There’s a massive difference between music that’s boring and music that’s deliberately designed to be sedate. It’s like calling the movie 13 Lakes boring, it’s reductive and entirely misses the point.
@TheFrenchiestFry It's actually nothing like that if you've ever played any of the games. Nothing feels forced and that's why the series is so great. It's modern, but organic in how the characters interact with each other. This comment screams "I'M BORING AND HAVE NO PERSONALITY SO IM GOING TO TAKE IT OUT ON EVERYONE ELSE"
@Clarice All music is subjective. Don't bash something just because you don't understand or don't like it.
@nessisonett This comment is pure factual gold. My wife has ADHD Type-C and she's also an artist. She will play this in the car when she's stressed or when she's journaling or trying to draw to help clear her mind and focus. People bashing Lo-Fi music either are boring and have no personalities or are "genre elitists" and have no business judging anything. Music is probably the most subjective medium on the planet and what someone might find terrible might fall on someone else's ears just fine. I personally don't listen to it, but I also don't hate it. If it's playing in the background on someone else's speakers it doesn't bother me any.
I love Hawt Dawg Man!
@somnambulance Thank you so so much man! And yeah no, i don't think lofi is a "youth thing" either, it's just that the youth is more exposed to new musical trends so they happen to be the majority of listeners. My mother loves some of my lofi music 😄.
It's perfect to study
It's perfect to relax
It's perfect for everybody
