Focus Home Interactive has unveiled Aeon Must Die!, a rather intriguing beat 'em up developed by Limestone Games. As you can see in the trailer above it has an impressive visual style and awesome music - the action looks suitably over the top, too.
It's coming to Switch and other platforms later this year. It seems to have a focus on one-on-one encounters, with the press release outlining that it has "accessible combat featuring proper fighting game mechanics".
It's also a game where you'll have choices in your actions, presumably in terms of who you kill, spare and rescue, which will influence the direction of the story.
We think it looks wishlist-worthy; let us know what you think in the comments!

I certainly looks cool! Gonna keep an eye on it for sure!
WOW. I love that indie developers come up with such a huge variety of art styles but sometimes i felt like "there can't be anything >really< new coming at this point anymore" - but hey here it is. Sure yeah, there are similar looking games, but the presentation, animation sets this one apart to a point where even i am interested, despite not being into the genre much.
Huh I thought this project died
Looks great. I hope it plays as nice. Would really consider this, and I'm indie picky.
80s synthwave cybergods? In a dramatic over-the-top brawler?
Take my money! My funds will be lost to them... like tears in the rain!
Looks incredible!! Watching this one. It's funny, in the 80's if you tried to imagine what the year 2021 would look like.... Now with disappointment we are just looking back at the 80's.
I still don't trust this game. There was a lot of controversy after this was first revealed because the devs got outed for tons of abuse and company mismanagement. I hope the team were able to put the management in place and were able to get back the game's rights
So, was there ever an update on what happened between the studio and the former employees?
Didn't the publisher con the developers of this game?
@Fighting_Game_Loser Erf... yeah.. just looked up the story from two separate websites. sigh Looks like I probably won't be getting it unless the story develops in a positive way...
@RetrovisRabbit Yeah which really sucks because the game itself looked damn fantastic. I feel like if everything went smoothly, it would end up in the higher ups and be considered on if the greatest beat-em ups of the modern era along side Castle Crashers, River City Girls and others
I haven't really been interested in beat 'em ups for something like 15 years, but ooh, stylish!
The protagonist looks indistinguishable from the things they're beating up to me.
Yeah, it does look quite cool, but I'd like to know more about what happened with the devs that were apparently screwed over during the development process, before I consider a purchase.
That is certainly a visually arresting game. It looks like they took a note here and there from SoR4 if I’m not mistaken. Will put it on radar.
The art is just, AMAZING! Love the music too. Gonna keep an eyeball on this one.
