Last month, as part of Sonic the Hedgehog's 30th-anniversary celebration, Minecraft announced a special Sonic Adventure 2 DLC pack for the game.
Now in an update, more Sonic x Minecraft content has arrived. This time, Sonic the Hedgehog has taken over "The Hive" Minecraft servers tab. The event runs from now until July 26th and can be played for free. You explore Greenhill Zone, collect rings, perform some epic parkour and unlock some "awesome" cosmetics.

This latest DLC for the game follows on from last month's Caves & Cliffs Part One Update. It added new mobs including goats, axolotl, glow fish, new blocks, and more. It might just be me, but on the obstacle course-like levels the hit detection was awful, it was basically unplayable. I would dodge an obstacle, only for it to take me back to the checkpoint telling me I had been hit. Is it just me, or is anybody else having this issue?

I was having a great time with this event earlier today. It's a lot more enjoyable than the other Sonic DLC that was being sold on the Marketplace, and it's completely free. The Hive has done an amazing job with this collaboration!
For me the Sonic dlc on Switch is TERRIBLE. The game freezes for about 30 seconds at a time.. like 4 times a level. Anyone else have this issue? I have never had any other switch game do this.
Edit: To clarify, the main Minecraft game itself I have never had one problem with. It is specifically this Sonic DLC that runs extremely poorly causing not just frame rate drops, but actual freezes that last a long time, maybe 4-5 times per Sonic level. A patch needs to happen fast!!!
@gloom Same. Minecraft runs terribly on Switch. It's an utter disgrace.

I also have the game, keeps freezing. Unplayable
I'd just like a fix so it actually works right and I have all my Chao in the garden
@mattesdude They might be referring to the paid Sonic DLC from the Marketplace, which is definitely a bad experience on Switch.
On the other hand, this Sonic event on The Hive seems to run pretty well on Switch. I actually play on The Hive almost daily, and they seem to have the server optimized for Switch better than any of the other featured servers.
@Fantasia yeah, I have paid dlc too. Maybe just haven’t played it enough. I’m going to try out The Hive stuff too…I’ve not played too much of those modes.
I like how they specifically put sa2 dlc when there are no sa2 levels in the dlc, it just annoys me dunno why tho
Hive works great but man this DLC I paid for really doesn’t work… they say there is a fix coming…
