Step aside, Disneyworld — there's a new most magical place on Earth, and it's the Fruits Basket island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Themed entirely around the mega-successful anime and manga series in which the Sohma family lives under a terrible curse, the island is home to protagonist Tohru Honda, and Sohma family members, Yuki, Akito, Kyo, Shigure, Hatori, Ayame, and Kureno.

The island is an official creation from the Fruits Basket team, as announced in a weekend tweet, and was made by illustrator Manamoko. Anyone who wants to visit can use the Dream Address of DA-8458-4531-4562.
There are also recreations of various areas from the series on the island, from Shigure's house to the Sohma Dojo, and you can even download some of the patterns displayed in the photos with the design code MA-0019-7722-5775.

Unfortunately, Animal Crossing — despite its name — does not allow people to transform into animals, so you'll just have to imagine that part for yourself. Also, no Momiji?! Everyone knows he's the best one.

I forgot they re-adapted this. Should probably watch at some point.
Seeing this makes me want to build a new island. But there's no way I'm deleting my current island.
@nessisonett The Fruits Basket remake is excellent. Really the Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood of the shoujo genre. It's on its third and final season now.
This is a very special story to my wife and I.
I've just loaded up the 'dream' for her to explore so thanks for the share Kate!
And also the new series is excellent and Momiji is indeed the best Sohma 🐰
I'll definitely have to check out this island, love Fruits Basket. Such a good story. I was very happy when they had announced a new adaptation that would be close to the source material.
Don't know the anime at all but this is still very cool
Fruits Basket [sic]
Fruits Basket Another [sic]
Reading the english titles of so many anime/manga is such a cringeworthy experience. Why is it so hard to get just one native english speaker to double-check it?
@Prizm Double check it for what? "Fruits Basket" is the intended title, and has a specific thematic relevance that relates to the entire work.
It's not like these are long, rambling light novel titles.
Awww, and it's official?? I'm there!
@Ralizah @Link-Hero I’ve watched over 280 episodes of Naruto this year. Even skipping most of the filler, I’ve definitely got plenty left and I really don’t have time to add another series to that 😂
.....and then Nintendo removes it for some reason. lol
@nessisonett Good lord, how long is Naruto, exactly?
When I was a teenager, I followed the manga via unofficial scanlations, but eventually just... stopped reading it. Because it never seemed to end. Ditto with the anime (which, initially, I could only watch via very poorly translated bootleg DVDs from Hong Kong, lmao).
These days, if I revisit the anime, I stop super early on, after the Land of Waves arc, which I still really like.
To be honest, I would like to have a hug emoji
@Ralizah The OG series is 200 and something episodes, although only the first 120 odds are canon and then its filler from then on so that the manga could get ahead. Then Shippuden is 500 episodes! I’m proper cracking on with it though, plus it’s gotten really really good in the last few episodes. You should totally watch the Chunin Exams as well as Land of Waves, they’re both really good arcs!
@nessisonett I ducked out originally somewhere in the middle of that arc where Sasuke leaves and is presumably planning to join up with
Snake VoldemortOrochimaru. That was... what, 100 episodes in? Something like that.Shippuden being 500 episodes long is seriously nuts. It'd take me years to get through that!
And then there's a sequel or something that follows Naruto's son
BurritoBoruto.Looking it up, all in all, you're looking at 800+ episodes.
@Ralizah To be fair, a lot of that is filler that I’ve skipped. But still, a whole lot of episodes for me to get through!
Wow this is really cool, thanks for letting me know about this!
