Before Activision's announcement of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2, a number of musicians spilled the beans ahead of schedule.
Now it seems history could be repeating itself. On an episode of The Behind Closed Doors Podcast last month, the drummer of the band CKY, Jess Margera, mentioned how they would be featured in a new Tony Hawk game.
"Yeah, I believe we're doing the new one coming out too"
The drummer follows up the conversation noting how his "son just got a PS5 and got the remaster of one and two" - which further clarifies his previous comment.
So, what might the new game be? As highlighted by our friends over at PushSquare, CKY's song '96 Quite Bitter Beings' previously featured in the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 soundtrack...
One burning question is who would develop this game, as Vicarious Visions was merged with Blizzard earlier this year and has now been assigned to Diablo II: Resurrected.
Could you see Activision doing another Tony Hawk game? Would you be up for the return of the third and maybe even fourth game? Leave a comment down below.

Only about a day late, I was wondering when you guys would notice 😂
Such nostalgia. As an ex skateboarder I put many hours into these games back in the day when I wasnt on the board, that's when I started to discover music and wanted to play aswell. All kind of started with these games because the soundtracks kicked ass.
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 6: The Apology for Tony Hawk 5
@Angelic_Lapras_King yeah 5 was an absolute train-wreck of a disaster. Hopefully with a TH6 it can't get any worse.
Activision literally doesn't have any developers left that aren't doing COD 24/7. Are they contracting an external studio?
I'm hoping we get THPS 3+4, but a proper new THPS would be great.
YES PLEASE. I hope Activision make it happen. I want a brand new game with both story and classic modes just like the ones Neversoft did.
I still play American Wasteland and Underground 1 and 2
Sounds like King is working on a new mobile game…
Ahh. CKY<33 I had a couple albums.
(i won't say i used to know rake yohn<3)
@link3710 You do know that studios have dev teams within them, right? Also they're not working on COD 24/7 - Toys for Bob for example has been listed as merely a support developer.
@Noid I'm aware. But last I heard, Toys for Bob's teams are SOLELY doing support for COD, no other titles. In the last 9 years (since the fall of Radical), the only teams within Activision to put out non-COD titles are Toys for Bob and Vicarious Visions.
Vicarious Visions is no longer making Activision titles. Toys for Bob is supposedly doing solely COD. Ergo either:
1. Toys for Bob or Vicarious Visions is in fact doing other titles, despite the fact that employees are reporting they are no longer developing games as a team or for Activision.
2. They are forming a new team
3. They are hiring an external contractor
4. They are taking Infinity Ward or Treyarc off of CoD
5. They are taking a blizzard team for this
4 and 5 are incredibly unlikely, and 3 is mostly unlikley.
Thus, I'd wager the answer is either 2 or 3. With the majority of Activisions output in the last 10 years being contracted out, the same is probably true here.
THPS, CKY and Jackass might be the three things that defined my teen years the most.
Who is Tony Hawk?
If i should guess - Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3+4 HD if i remember right, CKY was part of the soundtrack in at least THPS 3
THPS 6, featuring that guy who looks like Tony Hawk
As if it will come out on switch though
Tony Hawk 6 : the Geriatric Days
@link3710 Tony Hawk's Modern Warfare?
Tony Hawk already said in an interview last year, that he and the developer team is absolutely ready for more entries. Another one with 3 and 4 or a complete new game. It's just a matter of how successful 1+2 is. And we know, that it was a success.
Thps3 is best in the series by a country mile, would love a remake
you misspelled Margera, you missed the first R
@link3710 Beenox maybe? They seem to be the only Activision studio not solely working on CoD or Blizzard IP. They also ported 4 Tony Hawk games to PC in the 2000s (3, 4, Underground, Underground 2) and supported development of the recent 1+2 remaster.
Beenox's recent non-CoD games have been:
The new one is gonna be Tony Hawk 5: The real one. That other one was a weird dream you had.
Here I am pretending I'm a Superman, waiting for another Tony Hawk game. Here's hoping it doesn't suck, assuming this is true.
@Grumblevolcano I wasn't aware Beenox had actually been primary developer on anything, good to know.
Got to be 3+4. We kind of knew it would happen with the success they've had with the first two. Best games ever! Bring it on.
I’ve been playing TH 1+2 since it came out. Probably will pick up a copy for Switch as well. While TH 3+4 would be cool I have been dreaming of a new game using the 1+2 engine but new locations based on real life (at this point FDR is soooo different than what is in the Philly level. Would be nice to have a new version) how about the Berrics. It could be a killer game. Hope they go that direction!
Spoiler alert! It' set in a retirement home and has the player doing tricks with wheelchairs and walking frames, flirt with nurses, have food fights because the food is terrible anyways since the home is privately owned and after profit not care, and post stickers and paint tags on the walls with whatever you can find, from peanut butter to human feces. It will be called "THUG for Life!". Once a year you get to talk to your grandchildren through a video call app presented by a doctor in a hazmat suit, and that's where the new social aspect comes in: you choices get to make your grand child a rebel or a slave.
I would welcome a Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 & 4 collection too. Had fond memories with 4, which to me was the last good one. The ones to follow 4 just didn't seem interesting or different.
Given the success of the 1+2 Remaster it doesn't surprise me the bean counters at Activision decided it might be a good idea to move forward with more Tony Hawk games. How they move forward is where you need to be careful what you wish for. The 1+2 Remaster was successful because they really put all their balls into one basket and did everything possible to recapture lightning in a bottle from the original game(s). It actually worked.
I believe now with this they're at a crossroads of sorts. Do they continue the Remaster idea with a 3+4 game and go through the mess of reacquiring the music rights, former developers etc. OR they do ride the success and make a completely new game? If they make a new game what is the probability of it falling victim to the nowadays AAA gaming sins of too much push on graphics but infested with microtransactions, bugs & glitches galore, lack of content, paywalls, DLC's, 'Season Passes', 8 different pre order bonuses from 8 different retailers, $150 "Ultimate Edition" bundles, etc. etc. etc. The list goes on and on. To me it's a tough gamble of what I want. I always welcome new original games and ideas BUT not at the expense of it falling victim to what seems to be happening more and more these days
Elder Roll: SketchyRail
a 3+4 is an easy bet.
Tony Hawk's Existential Nightmare
@link3710 they flatout stated Crash 4 is still being supported by TFB probably on the rumored add-on, so it safe to say that they have teams working on non COD stuff.
@Sjmaster I'm talking about the primary development, not support. TFB is no longer doing primary development according to most of the former employees that left in the recent exodus.
THPS 3 + 4 Remake would be golden! Loved those games and they were the last Tony Hawk games I played. Bring them on and to Switch!
... Wun can only hope.
@link3710 That was deconfirmed, and there have been several hints to additional Crash content from VA's and leakers sooo...
@Sjmaster Deconfirmed by whom? Activision did put out a public statement refuting it, but they aren't a trustworthy source. Also, DLC for an already released game doesn't mean new active development.
