If you spotted our previous coverage of Nerd Monkeys and Publisher Hatinh Interactive's intriguing puzzle-platformer Out of Line last month, you'll be pleased to know we've now been given a release date. You'll be able to play this one on Switch from 23rd June.
In case you missed it last time, let's give you a quick recap. Out of Line is described as "a hand-painted children’s book brought to life," inspired by none other than Studio Ghibli. It tells the story of a young man called San who must evade searchlights and mechanical claws in hopes of escaping The Factory’s assembly line and realising his true identity.

A brand new gameplay trailer has been released to show off its hand-drawn aesthetic, so make sure to give that a good watch up above.
Key Features
• Enjoy dozens of beautiful puzzles
• Learn to master the mechanics of the spear
• Interact with beautiful hand-drawn environments
• Learn from extraordinary characters
• Discover what San’s story means to you
The game's also launching on PC on the same day, with PS4 and Xbox One versions coming later this year.

Okay, I love the look of this. It has the kind of puzzle platformer vibe that I like.
My question: is it only the spear? Could that single mechanic carry a game through to the end? I wonder . . .
Drawing on Studio Ghibli for this is a bit tenuous. Not that I've seen everything SG has ever output, but this doesn't immediately conjure Ghibli vibes from me.
Coincidence how these modern 2D adventure puzzle games always seem to involve industrial settings?
Limbo and Inside are worth playing, for the price you can get them. I'll keep an eye on this one but it's going to have to go some to rival Inside.
This looks really promising. The art style looks great. However, the main character looks like he was copied from Scribblenauts.
I've watched everything that Ghibli has made, own several of their art books and visited their museum and I can honestly say that I'm not seeing the link with this game. Game looks interesting, but it seems to be a popular selling point to say it's inspired by Ghibli. Ghibli's output is so varied that I take issue with these 'inspirations' anyway. It'd be better to say they had been inspired by a particular film.
Looks like Limbo but not depressing.
I don’t like the color palette of this game
I love the look of this, only hope a physical is created
Love these style of games, will pick it up if it's a reasonable price. As a Ghibli nut I also don't see much of a link but looks OK.
"Ghibli-inspired" seems to be a bandwagon that any game with a hand-drawn art style jumps on.
There is nothing Ghibli about this game in the slightest.
It’s definitely not ‘Ghibli-inspired’ whoever came up with that analogy needs to go and watch some Ghibli animation.
I'm seeing a cuter version of Inside, anyone else?
@gcunit NL seems obsessed with comparing a bunch of games to Ghibli lately.
I like the art style and I love the puzzle platformer genre - but is this really Ghibli inspired?
Reminds me a little of Inside. Looks great but...not quite my thing.
