LEGO Super Mario launched last August and seemed to go down very well with anyone sitting in that Venn diagram crossover of Nintendo and plastic block toy enthusiasts. Since launch, we've seen a variety of new sets appear and the plumber's brother will soon join him in August 2021 with a corresponding LEGO Luigi Starter set. He's-a Luigi, number... two.
If you've slept on this excellent Japanese-Danish fusion for some reason — lack of space, perhaps, or lack of funds (or maybe you're not totally onboard with the whole idea) — perhaps this new deal from online retailer Zavvi might help you take this plunge into a vast pool of expensive plastic bricks to discover the joys within.
Zavvi has a promotion going that bundles in a Mario t-shirt (Kids sizes — thanks ImagineerNik) and the LEGO Super Mario Starter Course for a cool $46.99 / £32.99 / €38,99 — not a bad deal for the Starter Set and some official merch.
Let us know below if this deal is enough to get you onboard the LEGO train, and check out our larger LEGO Super Mario buyer's guide if you're after more info on these interactive Nintendo-themed sets.

Best to point out that it's a Kids T-Shirt
I'm sorry but despite being a massive Mario fan, I think that shirt sucks. I'm not impressed by the LEGO set either, or the way it looks so I'm still not taking the bait.
I love LEGO but what they're doing with Mario is not for me. The Mario sets are great and very Nintendo and I do hope it's working for them. But it is aimed at children and it is doing something very different from normal LEGO.
I would love a more traditional set with standard minifigures - maybe an airship or something like that. Bowser's Japanese-style castle from Odyssey would be great. Or maybe the planets from Mario Galaxy.
But what they are doing isn't bad - I'm just not the audience.
So I checked, and the deal is also on the US site!

Despite me thinking this would be an expensive fad my 6 year old must have got 100 hours play out of the Mario Lego set and various add-ons.
I get that it's not stuff for AFOLs, but it seems to work for the intended audience and it's been wildly successful for Lego.
I bit. My six-year old daughter will adore this.
@ImagineerNik @Darkwario1 Thank you both - I've updated the article with those details.
So that's half price for the starter set but that won't stop the whole set from costing you an arm and a leg. Pass!
Not to be that guy, but everyone should be cautious with Zavvi. I bought a huge Lego set from them months ago and they delivered it to the wrong address. I had to contact their shipping partner several times and even though they admitted fault, Zavvi would not refund me. Even PayPal denied my case at first because they trusted Zavvi’s tracking which showed the lego was delivered (just not to me😂). Finally, I had the shipper send a letter to PayPal explaining the situation and their mistake but only after weeks of phone calls and emails. The shipper had been in contact with Zavvi as well, and they knew I didn’t receive my order. I only just a few days ago finally got my refund when PayPal reversed their decision. I know I’m probably the rare case here, but just some food for thought!
I love the character builds for Lego Mario but the people here are right—we definitely need some larger setting builds! Give us a real, gimmickless Bowser's Castle, Peach's Castle, a full Toad Town, Bob-Omb Battlefield, Whomp's Fortress, Bonneton, Tostarena... or some linear levels like Super Bell Hill or a 3D-ified 1-1.
I've been working on a Mario TTRPG since these launched, with the hope of using them as miniatures on a Lego-built map (and I've spent more money on these than I'd ever admit), and it would be sooo much easier to build those maps with some real sets!
