If you're still loving life on your Animal Crossing: New Horizons island, here's a quick, friendly reminder that today is Festivale!
Festivale is an all-day event celebrated around this time each year in the Animal Crossing universe in both the Northern and Southern hemispheres. The event's inspired by cultural celebrations – specifically Carnival and Mardi Gras – and is described by Nintendo as a “festival of colour, costumes and craziness!”
Owners of Animal Crossing: City Folk and Animal Crossing: New Leaf will already have a good idea of what to expect from the event, but we have a full guide to all the clothing, items, reactions and more that you can unlock and enjoy in New Horizons by taking part. Make sure to give that a read if you don't want to miss out on anything.
The celebrations will remain active on your island for the rest of the day, so be sure to check it all out if you get the chance!

My date on ACNH was still 11 or 12 February 2021, i found Redd arrived on my island so i still want to exploit the Arts and other colored items from him by Time Travelling forward and backward between those dates.
I still have plenty times to trigger the Festivale anytime after 15 February 2021.
I got Pave's special furniture item and have to say its probably the most impressive item I've seen in the game yet (especially when you interact with it and it turns on) It's amazing and huge!
After you've received 10 items from him he'll ask for three rainbow feathers and give you it in exchange for them.
I have already taken part! It was quite fun!
Had to wait a while, but the first big event of 2021 wasn't bad!
Hopefully the Mario event in March is just as good
I got all the items in every color and I love them, they're really colorful and inviting looking!
I quite like this event. The furniture is quite great. I am looking forward to March!
I time traveled yesterday so that I could play the event properly in the weekend, not worrying about work. It was ok, but not that much to do really. I got every item in every color, but it wasn't as fun as say, fishing events which at least require some gameplay, not just catching random feathers. Also, I wish Pave didn't require you to get the "ultimate prize" every so often even if you already got it.
The float is cool. And so are Pave's gyrations.
My island's party season is starting in 2 weeks time as I've had Pave put in the quarantine tent for a fortnight pending a negative covid test
I enjoyed this event. Got festival stalls in every color, and I'm going to use them in my marketplace! So fun!
Pave's hips are gyrating like Elvis.
Thanks for the reminder. I would have remembered eventually but I kind of forgot now.
I've drifted away from my island the last 2 weeks but I guess I'll get guilt-tripped back and talk to Pave tonight. I'd hate to miss out on reactions and cool furniture!
This was a good event but I wish we could have recieved diy for the furnitures.
It's gonna take up a lot of space in storage if you want to save every colour.
Definitely one of my favorite events so far and I thought the items were a lot better than in City Folk or New Leaf. The float is super cool.
My date and time are correct but the Festivale hasn’t started what do I do?
That festivale float is worth the grind.
Just finished playing the event, the reward you get and the end is awesome and totally worth the grind! Probably my favorite event so far!
@Clyde_Radcliffe I feel the same way. I was kind of blown away by it and immediately thought of how could I incorporate this as a centerpiece of some sort on our island.
Fun little event. Can't wait to see it at night.
@EmiLou Have you turned the game off and loaded it again? A friend of mine had it 'playing' on sleep mode from yesterday and had the same problem as you. A reboot sorted it out.
I logged onto New Leaf for the first time in a couple of months today to do upkeep on my town and say hi to the villagers. Other than that, I don't plan on taking part in Festivale. I only logged on today so that none of the villagers would bother me while I was picking weeds and digging up fossils and rogue flowers.
As much as I would love to get New Horizons, part of me doesn't want to on account of New Leaf: if I don't log on often enough, I actually get nightmares where I log on after a while and the entire town is changed; not just new or departed villagers, but the layout of the town is changed as well. I don't want to have to go through that again in New Horizons.
@AstroTheGamosian, I picked it up for the first time in months last week (first time in 9 months, if what my villagers said is true), and outside of some weeds that needed pulling, my island was exactly the same as I left it (same building placements, villagers, etc.) so New Horizons must be much more forgiving in that respect if what you say about New Leaf is true.
Guess I’ll join in on the fun.
That was brilliant! I can’t wait to make a festivale area now with all the stuff 💃🕺
@AstroTheGamosian You actually SHOULD get New Horizons because it's all yours to control. Animals won't move until you specifically told them to when they ask you, UNLIKE in NL where they can still move away WITHOUT talking to you (if you ignore them long enough, they won't ping and'll just disappear = exactly your nightmare). By "town layout changes" you probably mean random villagers moving in and building houses in your flower garden in NL. Again, you have total control of that in NH. NH is a huge improvement in that aspect.
This is the second event where I have no interest at all in the items, the first one was the awful bunny day.
@johnvboy
Pave items on ACNH looks boring.
On ACNL, Pave items are Turquoise colored items and looked more interesting.
@Anti-Matter,
Yes I usually would be collecting all the items from these special events, but just not interested in any of them.
@RR529 It's not in-game nightmares, but nightmares in real life; in-game, I really only have to worry about my favorite villagers moving away if I'm gone. I have the same problem with Minecraft, on account of an online server that I play on.
@HADAA Well, then I might consider picking it up. But in terms of changing layout, I don't mean a house appearing in a flower bed, but where the game is somehow updated and the entire map is changed, with new areas, shops no longer where they used to be, etc. It's quite the nightmare, actually.
