Isn't Japan mostly handhelds anyway as far as what they like?
I think I heard the PS5 isn't doing so hot over there, that leaves the Xbox and I don't think they have many exclusives yet that might appeal to folks in Japan.
Yea I think it is, I love how high the 2DS is
Go Pikmin, go!
Figures crossed for some DLC/additional content.
I can't help but wonder if Pikmin is going to be like Minecraft and just sit mid table for years. It seems like the perfect game to play on the go due to its nature.
Why are people buying a PS4 at the end of its life cycle when the PS5 is backwards compatible?
Great to see the switch selling well, it's probably bolstered by families buying multiple switches
Glad to see pikmin has legs.
@Mr-Fuggles777 Probably a lot cheaper and easier to get a hold on.
@Mr-Fuggles777 I'm guessing money. Also PS4 games are way cheaper than PS5 games.
@WiltonRoots,
This has the potential to be the best selling Pikmin release ever.
@Mr-Fuggles777 it’s £500 !!
I think PlayStation and Xbox have priced themselves out the market 🙈
Japan Pikmin 3 sales seems to be our only hope of Pikmin 4 happening.
@Quarth @Zimon the PS4 Pro is still around £400 new, it's doesn't seem a smart investment when you can get the new console for £100 - £150 more which will still play the cheaper PS4 games.
@sandman89 the Xbox Series S is actually cheaper than a Switch so I'm not sure how they have priced themselves out of the market. Both the PS5 and XsX are sold at a loss, it will be interesting to see how Nintendo prices a Switch Pro as they flat out refuse to loose money on hardware.
Eagerly awaiting the Q3 global figures!
It's amazing how well many of Nintendo's evergreen offerings continue to chart.
I realize we likely won't see Mario Kart 9 anytime soon, but I'm all for some new MK8D DLC.
@Grumblevolcano
Maybe on the switch successor. I don't even remember when the last time they mentioned it. I hope you're correct though!
@Mr-Fuggles777 what switch pro? And nobody wants a series s 🤷🏻♂️
@Kalmaro The Playstation brand declined in Japan because of lack of appealing software, not just because they're homeconsoles. The Vita didn't do very good either in Japan.
@sandman89 the Switch Pro that's been rumoured for about 2 years lol.
I'm getting a Series S for gamepass in the bedroom, The tv's only 46" and the Mrs won't let me upgrade to 4k in there anytime soon (she wants a new bed forst) so I don't need to pay the Series X premium.
@Mr-Fuggles777 You can see that the PS4 Pro almost didn't sell anything (18 units), the base console still sells which is way cheaper than a PS5.
@BTB20 my bad, I thought the PS4 and Pro numbers were lumped in together.
It's also easy to forget that not everyone is able to get new tech straight away so a PS4 will allow them access to a great library at affordable prices.
@BTB20 I thought the vita flopped because Sony just mishandled it somehow. Didn't the psp do well?
I wonder how bad the supply issue is for PS5 to Japan? I know there were concerns but less then 225K sold over the first 2 months of a console's life has to be alarming. Maybe they are selling millions around the world and Japan is being given less stock because the money is easier to be made elsewhere but wow.
@Kalmaro it did. And Vita did best at home, estimated at almost 6 million sales - the sheer bulk of its general lifetime sales and the numbers PS4 took several years (and some later killer apps like Monster Hunter World) to overtake. Given the Japanese internet and JRPGs' lower reliance on triggers, it even seems probable that a lot of PS4 owners were Remote Play users. And Japanese third parties had a relative field day with the console.
Konami. We are all waiting for your games.
Very suprised/disappointed to see Mario all-stars out of the top 10
What did Sony expect? They released a new console with very very few exclusive titles at a very high price point. There's just not much reason to upgrade yet.
Software sells hardware, not the other way around.
Holy cow, base Switch model alone is already close to 15M sold over there and that's even before we get a mainline and spinoff Monster Hunter.
It's crazy to see Momotaro Dentetsu still number 1 in Japan, the game by KONAMI.
Why don't KONAMI release Dance Dance Revolution A20+ to consoles when Momotaro Dentetsu clearly help the sale boost ?!
Nintendo Switch is the moneymaker for Konami.
Monster Hunter Rise comes out in March. The sales will be insane.
@Kalmaro The PSP had appealing software and because of that sold 19.6 million units. The Vita for example didn't have Monster Hunter.
PS5 dead in Japan already? That's what happens when you launch a console with no killer game.
