It seems retailers have once again confirmed a physical release ahead of the official announcement. This time it's for the Curve Digital and Lucky Mountain Games' title, Hotshot Racing. This physical release was first spotted in November last year.
According to listings on Amazon and Best Buy, a hard copy of this retro-inspired arcade racer will be speeding onto the Nintendo Switch on 19th February. It's apparently priced at $29.99 USD, can be pre-ordered now and includes the "Big Boss Bundle Content Pack" on the cartridge. Here's exactly what this DLC contains, along with a trailer:
"The Big Boss Bundle brings thrilling DLC to Hotshot Racing for free! New mode Barrel Barrage delivers the most incendiary action yet, while the Boss Level Grand Prix introduces an expanded selection of rapid racetracks."
If you've not got behind the wheel of this one yet, be sure to check out our review. We gave it 8 out of 10 stars and said it was a fantastic ode to the days off Virtua Racing, Ridge Racer and Daytona USA.

Does this have online multiplayer on Switch?
@Valdney Yeah it does, I'd like to know if the online is alive and easy to find games? Kind of intrigued by this after finding out it's made by Sumo Digital!
It must have sold well given they've released DLC and a physical is coming.
Glad it's not a limited release.
This is very good news! I was already hoping for a physical release!
Hoping for Europe/GB we won't be stuck with this one:

UPDATE: also found an updated European version without the download code part on the cover. Google for EAN code:
5060760882235
Releases on 19th of Feb
@Valdney I’ve only ever managed to find anyone else online once.
@Clyde_Radcliffe
The lobbies are almost always empty unfortunately. I've only had a handful of online races since it released and it is always with the same one other player, the rest are either AI or it's just one on one.
It's a pity because playing against a real human negates the laughable AI of the single player modes.
I really wanted to like this game but I actually wish I hadn't bought it. You'd be far better off buying Virtua Racing and Horizon Chase Turbo together and keeping the change.
It was an instant purchase for me the moment I realized orders were live.
The AI ruined the game for me, it has 100 times worse rubber banding than Mario Kart
Disappointing and ephemeral game for me. And terrible IA.
This game has no crossplay on the Switch for no reason, the online is simply dead.
Someone mentioned ridge Racer take my money!😃
Online matches may be empty but the time trials (online leaderboards) are competitive and will keep you coming back for more. It's a terrific throwback to Daytona and Ridge Racer. Agree that the AI is a sod though.
@HamatoYoshi Have to agree. The AI approaches levels of tryhard when it comes to crashing into you.
Been trying wrap up at least one campaign in Horizon Chase Turbo this year before coming back to this game. Hopefully with this news online will be somewhat more alive by then.
Still playing horizon chase turbo at the mo. Anyone played Neon Drive?
Already purchased digitally. The sucker I am will double-dip. Well played, Curve Digital.
I hope the physical release causes this game to have an online presence. I love this game but have never been able to find a game online.
I like this game but it's too light in content to double dip.
Is there a Version with Cartridge?
Can only find that one:

@Azuris see my earlier post (one of the first). I think the download code was their initial approach and luckily it seems they changed their strategy.
@6thHorizon I'd agree with that. If you want a racing game package, get Horizon Chase Turbo and Virtua Racing. Even though VR only has 3 track, except for the new Big Boss tracks, the other 16 in Hotshot Racing mostly feel like bits of other tracks rejigged into a new track. There's nothing like the learning curve to nail the nuance of a track like in VR.
In saying that, Hotshots is still a great game. It's VR graphics, Ridge Racer handling and exaggerated Mario Kart AI. The split screen is brilliant, and even in single player the thrill of constantly close racing is always there. Even if the AI could be deemed cheap, in reality, it help's you just as much if you crash badly, and if you save boost to the end of the race, you can easily zip ahead and win. So I wouldn't say Hotshots is flawed, it's just different.
Oh, cool.
@Retro_Player_77 Aren't we all?
@Valdney It does have online multiplayer but just like Fast Racing RMX, it’s practically a ghost town - make that country.
Whenever you do get an online race going, the frame rate is really smooth. No lag whatsoever; then again I use a wired LAN adapter...
Great game! and the Switch version is amazing
@TheLightSpirit I was thinking the same thing! I am now enjoying Need for Speed that I got on sale, I never really finished Grid (and I want to) and I really liked Horizon Chase (I bought the soundtrack, it is great)
I sometimes wonder if I should complete a racing game before getting another one . . .
@PiXeLSteF
Yep, have seen it a bit after i postet, somehow it skipped while scrolling^^
Seems like it is until now Belgian only (at least with my search on Google/Bing).
If it stays like that i'll get it on PC.der
The trailer has terrible physics so I can imagine the game itself is not a good time. In addition the animation is not very inspired.
@HalBailman
Yes agree completely about Virtua Racing. There is a really simple pleasure to be had in improving your run each time. It rewards your time and effort and rarely, if ever, unfairly punishes you; if you fail it’s your fault.
For me the hallmarks of a good racing game are finely balanced controls, a requirement for precision and skill from the player and not getting cheaply punted off the track or somehow losing for no reason other than the AI deciding. Sure, you can save your boosts until the end but where’s the fun or satisfaction in that?
If I lose I want it to be because I wasn’t good enough. That way coming back the next time or the time after and winning is that much sweeter. Hotshot Racing denies the player most of these pleasures.
Even in Mario Kart, the more skillful and accomplished you become, the better your stats will be overall.
Having said all that though, local/online multiplayer is definitely better if you manage to find someone to play against.
@dugan
Those three games are all head and shoulders above Hotshot.
@PiXeLSteF Let's hope this version will be available on amazon, etc. It still shows the download code version there.
@infernogott over here it is 100% physical (Europe)
@PiXeLSteF Link? All the versions I found in online stores say "Code in Box".
@infernogott
This is e.g. in Netherlands

@PiXeLSteF That's burnout paradise, not hotshot racing
