Made by a one-woman team based in France, The Sundew is a new point-and-click game in the style of old LucasArts classics. You'll play as a cyborg police officer in Japan named Anna Isobe, living in the dystopian city of Shibukawa where cyborgs — once a symbol of technological possibility and advancement — have become taboo.
The Sundew, which is modelled after retro point-and-click adventures, is presented in detailed pixel-art graphics made entirely by Agnès Vuillaume, the same woman who does the programming, the narrative, and everything else on this game. She's been working on it for several years, founding the studio - 2054 Games - in September last year.
Inspired by old-school sci-fi authors like Philip K. Dick and William Gibson, as well as films like Blade Runner, Ghost in the Shell, and the Riddick series, Vuillaume created The Sundew as a passion project, hoping to release it on PC and Switch later this year.

Uh... Ok? I don't know what to say.
Oh good, another pixelated, point and click indie game with a butch female protagonist. Yaaaay.
As a fan of old point-and-clicks, I’m excited about this!
.....but what I wouldn’t give to have the entire Monkey Island series on Switch! Oh, and The Adventures of Willy Beamish!
Dunno if I'd invoke the name of Monkey Island unless you're guaranteed to have a writing team as good as the trio of Tim Schafer, Ron Gilbert and Dave Grossman. Likewise, cyberpunk as a genre is extremely overplayed these days as something you can tack on to your project in lieu of having anything interesting to say. It's not postmodern anymore, and I wish more storytellers would eschew the label in favor of bolder, more interesting visions of the future.
@DK-Fan god forbid we have a female game character that doesn’t have her bum hanging out her skirt and her suspenders showing....
You had me at the Monkey Island comparison
I'll definitely be getting any point n clicks that are released
Looks interesting; the trailer shows some cool graphical style, if little gameplay. I’m a huge fan of retro point and click adventures, and I’ll be excited to check this game out!
Looks brilliant! Big ups to the developer!
@BanjoPickles
Me too. I'd love another go at Willy Beamish. I remember playing it on PC at a friend's house in high school and then immediately buying it on Sega CD when it came out on there. That was disappointing though because it was great when I played a little bit of it on PC and then it was SO SLOW with all the loading times on Sega CD.
@DeclanS98 which is just one person!
It’s incredible that a single person can do all this hope the game is good might buy this one.
Looks interesting, and will pick it up if reviews are acceptable.
Really boring trailer though.
