The League of Legends IP is heading to consoles early next year in the form of Ruined King: A League of Legends Story, and thankfully 'consoles' includes everyone's favourite hybrid system, too.
Yep, the game — developed by Airship Syndicate and the first to be published by Riot Forge — is coming to Nintendo Switch and is described as a "single-player and immersive turn-based RPG [which] invites new players to the LoL universe as well as players entrenched in the lore to enjoy exploring its mysteries".
For League fans, seeing the IP from one of the world's leading MOBAs on console may well get the blood pumping. If you're not a League of Legends fan, however, the involvement of Airship Syndicate (the studio led by comic book artist Joe Madureira) should pique your interest — they're the team behind Battle Chasers: Nightwar and, more recently, Darksiders Genesis.
Eager to know a little but about the story? Here's a description from the official PR followed by some fetching character portraits:
The story is set in two regions of Runeterra, Bilgewater, a port town that is home to sea monster hunters, dock gangs, and smugglers from across the known world; and the Shadow Isles, a land cursed with the deadly Black Mist which shrouds the island and corrupts those it comes in contact with. In order to defeat a common and mysterious enemy, players will form an unlikely party of beloved League of Legends champions – Miss Fortune, Illaoi, Braum, Yasuo, Ahri, and Pyke.
Riot Forge says they'll have more to share about the game in December. Until then, let us know below what you think of this console adventure to Runeterra.

This is again a RPG that nobody is gonna play
Will probs try it on PC. Depending on what else is in there. If legends of runeterra taught me anything, bad game design and balancing will carry over from riot's main title.
Surprised they remembered illaoi exist.
I've always wanted to try this series out, and this looks like a good place to start. Looking forward to it.
Looking forward to this one, hopefully we get some gameplay footage soon!
I know next to nothing about League of Legends but Turn-based RPGs always resonate with me and I do like the art design this game has a lot from what little is shown here anyway.
But without gameplay footage it's hard to really say but I'm a little curious.
If its made by Airship Syndicate, I am interested. I love their games and the work they did on Darksiders before THQ and Vigil's demise.
As for the setting, I have always enjoyed the art direction and animations of LOL, never cared for MOBA'S, but I'm down for learning about the setting. Besides, anything to do with seaside towns and ports and any pirate type vibe I am down for. Its always a Pirates life for me.
Battle chasers had the misfortune of being kinda bland but the games graphics were never an issue. This game will probably play better so I'm interested.
Wow, joe mad. Back in my comic geek days I loved his style. I can appreciate the familiarity of his work now even if I’m not as enamoured by it
Never got into LoL or any MOBA for that matter but I've always enjoyed it's lore. With it being an RPG plus that nice artstyle, color me interested
Zero interest in League of Legends but Airship Syndicate hasn't let me down yet. Could potentially be way into this.
I have fond memories playing LoL quite a few years ago, hopefully this release will prove worthwhile.
@Jacobpower I guess I’m nobody.
I stopped playing LoL a long time ago, game just feel dull to me now.
Another Trailer showing no gameplay. What a waste of time looking it.
I´ve been eager for more of this since it was announced in the game awards. Those portraits look all sick! (specially my boy Pyke)
The world of LoL actually has really rich lore and I'm glad Riot is capitalizing on it. Their card game was super fun, looking forward to how this next project turns out.
@Jacobpower lmao yea ok buddy
@Jacobpower I'll be playing it for sure
Battle Chasers: Nightwar was good so it may be good
I think it will be a great concept. All league of legends players are excited about it. The game will play out as a blend of isometric explore, and tactical battle game that looks fantastic. At the moment a Ruined King is scheduled to launch some time in 2021. The title will be available on PC, Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox. On top of that owners of PlayStation®5 system and Xbox Series X|S that will own Ruined King on PlayStation®4 system and Xbox One will get the game for free for the newer version of their console. To be totally prepared, I will buy a league of legends smurf account https://www.lolfinity.com/ to have some advantages when playing the game. I really hope that it will be great.
