Following on from the official reveal earlier this week, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate game director Masahiro Sakurai has now locked in the release date for the newest DLC fighter in his latest live stream.
The Minecraft reps Steve, Alex, Zombie and Enderman will all be arriving in Smash Bros. Ultimate on 13th October (that's the 14th October across Europe).
Of course, like all the previous DLC fighters - it's going to cost you. You can either purchase this newest character individually for £5,39/€5,99 or the Fighters Pass Vol. 2 for £26,99/€29,99. Steve and co mark the seventh DLC fighter added to the game (excluding Piranha Plant).

What a great presentation. Sakurai is an absolute legend with a great sense of humour and an invaluable insight on the industry and life in general. I’m sure he could hype me up for buying life insurance. Steve is shockingly true to the game and the sheer amount of work exerted by the whole development team is a sight to behold. I can’t wait.

I love this character already. I couldn't even put into words for the longest time how I would execute Steve in Smash but Sakurai literally took the words out of my mouth. I'm so happy right now.
I understand Minecraft isn't exactly everyone's cup of tea but as far as representing it goes, this is pretty much as much of a love letter to Minecraft as Terry was to Fatal Fury and KOF.
Although I am also kind of gutted as a No More Heroes fan rn admittedly
Mr Sakurai is so wonderfully creative. A joy to watch (and I don't even play Minecraft!). How good was Kirby lol? May we be blessed with more seasons of fighter passes ^^

I think they did really good, on the character, he looks kinda complicated to play for me.

This is easily the most impressive new content of ultimate, and maybe the entire series
Such a shame they chose not to remix any of the songs and instead chose to use songs from the spinoff game.
@Crockin I have to wonder what other characters might bring to the series. Steve being able to make his own terrain is probably the biggest twist any character's ever added to the game, it's going to be hard to top that.

@Andrew5678 it’s so cool. I’ve only spent a little time with Minecraft, but I’m just really blown away. All the sudden a tetris block fighter really doesn’t sound that crazy or unlikely
Sakurai and Co legit ported Minecraft to Smash Bros.
Man, these characters seem to keep getting more and more complex with each new addition. There are exceptions like Banjo, but it seems Sakurai's team is intent on pushing the envelope for more and more complex fighters. This looks like the most complicated one by far.
Frankly, as I've never been a big Minecraft fan, I'm more excited to see what's next after this!

My early impression is Steve is a ledge-guarding master, with the disadvantages of material management and an easily punished recovery.
@graysoncharles Nintendo is there own thing. No one is going to buy nintendo. People wanted Disney too but they dont get along at all.
Wile I'm not a big fan of his inclusion, Steve actually looks to be a pretty good Fighter! I love the crafting elements and I know that his block placing special is going to be so annoying to deal with. I can't wait for the 13th! October is actually looking pretty good.
Maybe since it will be released on the 13th, there will actually be time for some good news for 2020.
@RPGamer Sakurai credited the programmers for Steve's inclusion. They had to rework every stage to get him to work. Don't get me wrong I think Sakurai is awesome but this isn't entirely his doing.
@RPGamer Since we’re only getting a male Byleth, I doubt we’ll see amiibo for Alex, Zombie, and Enderman.
