Although Wargroove players on the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC have been able to play alongside each other for some time now, one party missing from the battle was the PlayStation 4.
As with all cross-play titles, it's tied to Sony's restrictive stance on this feature, which it now appears to be relaxing. We've seen this in the past with games like Rocket League, and as of today, Wargroove players across all platforms - including the Switch, will be able to play with PS4 users, as this particular platform has finally received the Double Trouble downloadable content.
If you haven't tried out Wargroove yet, it's worth a look if you're a fan of certain Intelligence Systems classics. We praised it in our nine out of ten star review:
As far as strategy games are concerned on the Switch, Wargroove is one of the best titles you can find on the eShop.
Cross-play supports both competitive and cooperative multiplayer and also allows users to share community-made maps with each other. Will you be teaming up with your friends on PlayStation 4? Tell us down below.

Sony sure took their sweet time huh? Guess snagging exclusive content away from multi-platform games is incredibly time-consuming.
@Coach_A As you can see in the article, this was sourced from Push Square.
On-topic - this might get me to return to Wargroove. As much as I love it, I never got around to checking out the DLC when it was released earlier this year on the Switch.
Love this game! Its inspirations shines through, but it has enough own ideas and character to stand on its own. Haven't tried multiplayer yet though.
Wasnt interested in this game until now.
Anyone that played it, is it good?
Push Square only mention other consoles through gritted teeth
@The-Chosen-one I've only played single player, but if you like Advance Wars and Fire Emblem, you'll love this. The story and characters don't take themselves too seriously, so it's a bit goofy, but with a lot of heart.
This game is on my wishlist but feel like I should play Advance Wars first.
@Creature
Lol yeah with strategy i really dont care about story, i just want to play.
Thanks for the comment.
@Quarth
Thanks will get it later this week.
@Cromwell
Disappointing, but not surprising in the slightest.
@Cromwell that’s not my experience of pushsquare. Many of the staff and community there play Nintendo games. The editor in fact was a self-proclaimed Nintendo fanboy in a previous life!
I have put well over 300 hours into this game, amd it is on my top 5 of all time. A fantastic game if you like turn-based strategy, and I am still able to get online matches.
Fun strategy game! I’ve sunk a ton of hours into the campaign mode and puzzles. Every time I try to play online, I find myself just waiting and waiting for a match. Never had any luck. Maybe this helps?
