A few years ago now, The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia burst onto the scene as an absolutely must-own book which covered the history of the Zelda series. It was so good, in fact, that it ended up being the number one best-selling book in the US soon after launch.
If you never managed to get your hands on it, or didn't feel like forking over the $39.99 recommended retail price, you might want to consider this brand new digital version. A listing on Amazon has revealed that the book is arriving digitally this April, with the release date currently set for the 14th.

We actually posted a book review for Hyrule Historia way back in 2013; if you're wanting to know more about it, make sure to give that a good read. Here's a snippet:
Packed with information and lavishly produced, Hyrule Historia was always going to be a standout publication. However, its depth and detail have surprised even us. Few video game franchises could ever hope to support such a weighty and significant book, and even if you’ve only a passing interest in the adventures of Link, this should be a permanent addition to your coffee table or bookshelf. Our fingers are crossed that the same treatment can be offered to other key Nintendo properties in the future.
Tempted by this digital version? Did you grab a copy of the physical book back in the day? Let us know in the usual place.

I have the book. Excellent thing to pull from the bookshelf every now and again.
Finally! The other two books have been available digitally for ages now.
I wonder if there was some rights issue with the digital release of this one, due to it being released digitally as a bonus with the Wind Waker HD Wii U console.
I guess it's handy but I've never read a digital book from start to finish. I usually don't mind digital content but with books it feels wrong...
What's the point?
This kind of book, especially, is meant to hold in your hands and experience, to treasure on your book shelf.
Otherwise, just read a Zelda Wiki and look at artworks online.
Not a fan of digital books whatsoever.
I've got the limited edition version with a faux-leather cover and gilded page edges, still wrapped in plastic. It has tripled in price since I bought it, but I also have the standard green version to get my grubby hands all over.
These are a fantastic trio of books for the more-than-casual Zelda fans. Art & Artifacts in particular was loaded with great little bits and pieces.
These books are awesome! Got all 3 for about $20 for Christmas "for my kids" lol. Very high quality books definitely recommend them!
I have a copy of Hyrule Historia that I picked up a couple years ago for about $25. I much prefer physical books when possible, but I could see how digital would be preferential for those who have limited storage or don't want to haul the (admittedly large) book around.
That said, digital buyers will still miss out on that new book smell and the feel of those succulent pages.
Reading anything long form on a screen does my head in.
Will it include the updated timeline?
This should have Breath of the Wild info included and it would be nice if it was kept updated. Unlikely it will though
Amazing book, loving digital, it's good for the enviroment.
Lol, just bought the physical version for £15. They're probably going to publish an updated version in a few months...
I got the physical version at around the same price when i bought it just one year after release.
This was already released digitally.
I've had it digitally on my Wii U since September, 2013.
Got this and would love an updated version. Lovely book. Shame the Amazon delivery driver took a nice chunk out the packaging leaving a dent in the top left corner. Might read it again.
Bit too late for that. Had it for ages.
@Savino that’s like saying apart from the meat you eat you’re a vegetarian
The key to enjoying a book in digital form is to do it on the right device. I have a 10inch tablet for reading comics and graphic novels on and it's incredible, I'd say I enjoy it more than physical media.
I must now gently stroke my treasured physical edition.
I'm all about e-books for convenient reading, as my wife and I have accumulated thousands of books which take up way too much room in the house, but there are some things that you really want a printed copy of, and this is one of them.
Used copies go for $10-20 on Abebooks.com, and I'm sure you could find a British equivalent. Don't buy this digital at that price.
$24.99 isn't what I'd consider a fraction of $39.99 even if technically it could be. A fraction suggests a very major discount and this is a clickbaity and deceptive way of presenting it. How about say it's for about a 3rd off.
Didn't this technically get a digital release via the Wind Waker special edition Wii U?
@HammerKirby I was about to say the same thing. Lol, I got the digital version of it with my Windwaker Wii U bundle.
@brunojenso 1/3 is a fraction lol But that is quite a big discount tho. Its actually $20 USD on Amazon right now.
@Steven_the_2nd True it is - but at least where I come from (UK) that expression mean's something like a 10th of the price.
