We know Luigi's Mansion 3 has done tremendously well on the Switch. It's won awards, set new sales records and was highly praised by fans and critics alike. To add to this, Nintendo has now confirmed the total sell-through of this game in Japan, North America, and Europe has exceeded four million units in just nine weeks. All up, it's sold more than five million units to date.
At Nintendo's recent nine-month financial results briefing, company president Shuntaro Furukawa compared its sales to the previous entry in the series on the 3DS:
Compare to the sellthrough of Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon released in March 2013, it is off to more than twice as fast of a start during the same time period from the release. Compare to Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, its momentum of sell-through is particularly stronger in North America and Europe, the ratio of overseas sales has been high for this title.
He also noted how people in their twenties were the main consumers of Luigi's third outing, immediately after its release, and said how children and family's joined in on the fun around the holiday period:
In addition, although people in their twenties were the main purchasers immediately after release, the ratio of children and families increased as the holiday season approached.

I did get Luigi's Mansion 3! --at launch.
Yes I bought it, I think it's much better than the second game too although somehow the ghosts still look better in the original game, they're too shiny in this. Still a great game and in my top 5 on Switch
It outsold RingFit, Astral Chains, Fire Emblem, link awakening... I think outside Of Pokémon it outsold just about everything Nintendo did in 2019 (If not it is up there for sure)
Still in the top 10 in the last Europe chart. So not done yet!

Great game... loved every minute of it.
I want this one. Probably my next AAA purchase if BOTW2 does not come out before that.
Loved it and happy it is selling well. Fantastic series. Would much rather some story DLC than the multiplayer stuff we're getting though.
One of last year's best games. It is pure gaming magic.
‘twice as fast in the same time period’ isn’t a correct sentence...
They sold twice as much in the same period of time or the same amount twice as fast.
Well done, Luigi . You’re stepping out of the shadow of your, ironically, shorter brother.
Well of course it did! It's awesome! I was surprised how many hours it took to fully complete too! The original was so short. You could beat it in two hours. More like a Gamecube tech demo. Dark moon was good but i sorta hated how it was set up into missions rather than just exploring the whole mansion.
I bought Luigi's Mansion 3 right at launch. But it's buried under all my other backlog games. xD
I bought the game at launch, yet to complete it though. If i remember correctly I am on floor 9 or 10 - the film set level
This mean we get Luigi's Mansion 4 at some time since the sales of the series keeps increasing
So glad they ditched the mission structure from 2. "Oh look at how far you have gone in the mansion Luigi, time for you to come back to the lab, only for me to send you back to the beginning".
Luigi's Mansion 3 just felt more polished. Each floor stuck with its theme wonderfully, and I loved the fact that there was more interaction with the room when it came to the Poltergust. The bosses were more fun to fight, and I loved the Polterpup moments too.
I am thrilled that Luigi's Mansion 3 has sold as well as it has. It gives me hope for a 4th game when originally I wasn't holding much hope for this 3rd game when first announced.
Bought it just last week and have been enjoying it immensely!
First game in a long long time that I've actually played to completion and saw the end credits.
We actually bought it for my 6 year old daughter for Christmas. She's probably a little too young to manage the game on her own but she absolutely loved to play along as Gooigi and she really enjoyed it.
We're both a little gutted that it's over
Excellent game, I hope it sells much more.
I got it short after launch and still have to finish it... I'm kind of scared that it's going to end, so I try to play one floor at a time, search all collectibles before going to the next floor. And I really enjoy the online chaos tower! Especially whenever I find skilled and collaborating players!
Still haven’t gotten this yet...but it’s my next purchase for sure. Nintendo is going to get me for 3 copies since I know my kids will want it too. I told myself I wouldn’t spend any more on games until I beat DQ & Pokemon.
Really happy this series is doing so well on Switch. Hopefully that means more, bigger & better LM games to come in the future.
I got luigi 3 and yoshi on launch and I'm 39
I bought Luigi 3, and it's ok...
The controls are frankly a HOT MESS.
I prefered the 2nd game. W/O Co-Op I'd regret purchase of the 3rd game. (Also of note, the 8-player multiplayer games are just terrible - like Mario Party rejects).
Still, I'm glad I got the game - with the Co-Op it is good and plays like a Lego game with better graphics and without level-breaking bugs that are scattered EVERYWHERE in most Lego games.
the graphics and animations of Luigi Mansion 3 is so top notch and Pixar- like or even better then this and i cant wait to play this amazing game in my birthday in april, Luigi Mansion 3 is a amazing game and deserve all the sales and sales it receiving for critics and playes, so happy that the game sold so well, now we can have a Luigi Mansion 4 in Nintendo next console.
I think I'm going to get it for my birthday in May. I played my friends copy on my projector screen, and I am very impressed oh, hopefully I will finish the OG Luigi's Mansion before then on GameCube.
Well deserved.
An amazing game.
This will sell 10 million at least. Mark my words. Also Luigis mansion 4 will be on switch
Picked it up launch day, actually I had it pre-ordered months in advance. My most anticipated game of the year as well. Haven't played it yet. No invert y axis to play it correctly means I physically cannot play the game at all, and I cannot unlearn the natural way to play incorrectly without ruining all my enjoyment.
@Smashfan502 Well, you are really careful when reading! That was a typo, I meant "short"... Thank you for the profile picture, it is just a cutout of an amiibo picture 😊
@Smashfan502 I meant I'm going to buy Luigi's Mansion sometime in future, but if BOTW2 is out at that point of time, then that gets the priority.
@Smashfan502 I guess you weren't joking about the OCD and I understand it has to be pretty hard to live with. I had no impression about you trying to make fun, quite the opposite. And from your comments, you seem to be a very nice person! About Pit, you are right again. Now that you said it, i remember that I did cut the picture of the first time they presented the amiibo on some site on the internet. So that is actually a higher quality "amiibo" prototype than those they printed and distributed later. So I say it again, very careful and with attention to details!
@Smashfan502 I know it's not that terrible, and glad you learned to live with your problems (lots of "sane" people can't do that). I work in the mental health services, so I've known lots of great people who struggle but find their own way in life.
I love amiibo and have actually way too many than I could affort. I don't use anymore in games them but they are exposed in my living room and I somethimes just stop, touch and look at them. And I have some of the Zelda amiibos still in the cardbox, I feel sad opening them but I would like to. I didn't know about the Funko Movie... but I don't really care about them... I would like a Nendoroid figure instead...
now Nintendo needs to bring Luigi's Mansion 1 and 2 to the Nintendo Switch. as much as i like Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon, i think that it would be a lot more enjoyable on the Nintendo Switch.
Since they ported the original over to the 3DS than they should port it over to the Switch. Having the trilogy on the Nintendo Switch would be awesome. (and a must buy in my opinion)
@Smashfan502 The problem about amiibo is that I got the first one, Link, at launch, then I was thinking: "I could get another one" and bought Zelda. The I wanted to complete the triforce and Ganondorf came to my shelf, and so on. Now I have about 60. Sure I can afford them, I was being ironic, even if I have some pricing limits and never buy the when they are totally out of the right price range.
