Bigben and KT Racing have released a brand new trailer for the upcoming TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge 2, the new racer coming to Switch and other platforms in Q1 2020.
The video shows off all the technical improvements added to this sequel, and also reveals that you'll be able to race around the world's longest and most challenging circuit. How the Switch version will fare in comparison to other platforms remains to be seen - the original faced several unsurprising visual downgrades - but the new game is promising a huge open world to explore and new physics to "increase realism and game experience", such as a fully integrated gyroscopic effect for more precise and natural steering.
Here are some more details:
The bike physics have been rebuilt from the ground up to create ultra-realistic behaviour. The gyroscopic effect is now completely integrated for more precise steering, and speed wobbles have been added to alert riders that a fall could be imminent. The brakes and shock absorbers have also been redesigned. They now respond to all bumps in the road and create a riding experience that is much more faithful to what a real motorcyclist feels.
From the handlebars of your bike, shave valuable seconds off your time by using your opponent's slipstream to pick up speed, and find the best line in bends to maximize your bike's grip. Managing wear and tear of parts is also part of the game experience: the brakes, suspensions, engine and tyre temperature all need to be monitored for the best ride and to reach the finish line of the 60km circuit, especially if you complete all six laps of the race!
Are you looking forward to this one? Let us know if you plan on picking it up when it launches early next year.

"and also reveals that you'll be able to race around the world's longest and most challenging circuit." um, you could in the first game right? You didn't think they would ship a sequel without the ability to race the track in the title did you? Or am I missing something?
Ooh,... I could do with a really nice racing game...
... and if you crash, the game kills you just like in the real thing! The complete rider experience.
I'm surprised there's a second, the first didn't seem to set the world on fire with sales. Anyway hoping it's a decent experience with a good career mode
Open world sounds like fun. It will be interesting to see what they actually mean by that.
Some things I'd be wanting them to improve on, from the last one:
1. Native 1080p / 720p resolution. Sorry but a racing game has to look sharp. Grid did it, now there's no excuses.
2. Somehow magically make me better at this hard, hard game. I'm braking, I tell you! Turn! Turn!
I’m looking forward to this. Never played the first one but that first person view looks so dope, I’ve gotta try it.
No blue shells then?
@N64-ROX
Not really the same though is it. Grid is a port from a 360 game.
How the hell is this not DLC???? So they make one broken god awful game. they now improve that game but label it as '2' and want another forty quid.
So I'm guessing all that was Switch Gameplay?
Yeah, but I'm not buying a Switch game from an Xbox X trailer. Come on. That's like buying a C64 game after seeing a piccy of the Amiga version. Lol
@YANDMAN The original is very far from being a "broken god awful game." I was very impressed with how it compared to other console versions of the game and it is a fantastic motorcycle racing game. Gamers wouldn't know a good racing game if it fell on top of their head.
@JayJ you obviously like terrible twitchy handling. I've played the PS4 version and that is bad enough. you must be some sort of real gamer if you can identify a good racing game i guess. Greatest motorbike racing game ever is the original Moto GP on the original XBOX, sound, handling, speed is all perfect. Superbike legends is also worth a go, but i'm sorry this TT series is not good.
@YANDMAN You know they allow you to adjust the controls, right? One of the first things I do whenever I start up a new sim racer is adjust the controls. That is just sim racing 101. It's a great game for what it is if you know how to play it properly, and I never had any issues with the controls. A lot of gamers tend to be very critical of sim racers when they're out of their element and don't understand them.
@N8tiveT3ch 😂😂
I live an breath this in the real world. As one of the few who keep the visitors and residents of the island safe 24/7 these are two weeks when I don’t see much of home due to long shifts.
I brought the first TT game as I don’t have the courage (or madness) to ride a motorbike for real. The one thing I noticed in the game was how stripped back the scenery was on the TT course. Where dense trees should have been were open fields on the switch so it kinda distracted me and confused me when playing as parts of the course where not instantly recognisable.
I will only buy this if the Switch version is improved over the original which I very much doubt.
@aznable
MotoGP deaths are very rare these days with all the gear the riders have.
I missed the first game, I will probably give this one a shot.
@BrianLovesDucati this is Isle of Man tt... deaths are more common than in mgp.
looking forward to this one.
@aznable It takes people years of dedicated practice until they are ready to even think about competing in the event. It is easy to die doing that for obvious reasons but they gotta have the track totally memorized and know how fast they can go everywhere. In that sense it is probably safer than some motorsport events as everyone has only one track to memorize and it is all time trial, but it is massive.
@JayJ Yeah I know how it works. I don’t know how my first comment came across but apparently everyone replying to me seems to think i know Jack Schidt M.D. about motorcycling. I was making a joke about how deadly this race is- which it is. I ride ffs.
@aznable Oh yeah for sure, I just think the time trial nature makes it less dangerous than head to head racing is all, a lot of the fatalities in MotoGP were due to other riders colliding with someone. That said the improvements to gear over the years has heavily reduced the likelihood of that. Chest and spine protection alone has massively improved safety for motorcycles in general.
I was really into riding for a while and I love watching the TT so that is why I like discussing this sort of thing. There is no doubt that the Isle of Man is the deadliest track though, it is pretty much the Nordschleife on steroids.
I have the first game. I think it's an impressive game from a technical standpoint. It looks really good, sounds good, controls are good... But dear lord, is it HARD! I have all the setting to easy, and I have never won a race. I guess you could say it's realistic (I can't say, I've never ridden a motorcycle much less raced one), but if you don't have the tracks memorized and preemptively adjust speed and steer early into turns, you'll constantly wreck. And even on easy, the CPU opponents leave almost no margin of error. Maybe I just can't wrap my brain around "racing sims" but to me, this game is just endless frustration.
