Updated: Earlier in the year, it was revealed a remastered version of Romancing SaGa 3 was on the way to the Switch and multiple other platforms. For the first time ever, this game will also be localised.
Now, Square Enix has revealed the third entry will arrive on the eShop in Japan on 11th November, which is the same time as the western release of the game. It will require approximately 1.7GB of free space.
Here's some additional information about it, courtesy of Square Enix:
The celebrated RPG classic comes West for the first time! Developed by industry veterans including the legendary developer Akitoshi Kawazu, Romancing SaGa™ 3 was originally released in Japan in 1995. This HD remaster of the legendary RPG masterpiece introduces optimized graphics, a new dungeon to explore, new scenarios and a new game+ function. Select one of the 8 unique protagonists and embark on an epic adventure defined by your own choices!
Will you be adding this one to your Switch HOME Menu? Have you played the previous entries in this classic series? Tell us below.

Nah. I'll wait.
Waiting isn't a bad thing one can tackle the backlog and see how a newer game pans out.
@KitsuneNight It's not technically a newer game though. Just the first we officially get it in the west.
Unrelated note, this game is basically the original Octopath Traveler
@Kalmaro
I am mostly waiting to see, if Square added anything to relieve the never ending grind.
I bought the FF 7-9 remasters because of those.
@KitsuneNight According to the article, grind was not addressed. So no need to wait and see, I suppose.
@Kalmaro
Ah, damn it must have missed that.
Oh well,i got the Mana Collection to be getting on with.
Ah, I love the 80s-90s anime aesthetic. Reminds me of the vampire hunter d novel illustrations. Now THERE is some timeless artwork.
Eh, it's a good game. I still would rather remasters of the frontier games. Maybe frontier, but finished. It won't happen, but hey, that would be great. That said, RS3 is good, but I'd recommend last remnant over it. Yeah, some may think it's more animey (it isn't, RS3 is just older so it's not as recognizable), but it's still the only good SaGa game after frontier 2 even if they ended up calling it something else. And unlike the frontier games, it's from an era where the story actually made it in the game regardless of the quality of that story. Man, frontier would be so good if half of the plot points went anywhere.
@Kalmaro Nah, live a live has it beat by a year. I'd also say live a live is a better game than both, but I don't think the west will ever see an official localization of that game. It's not hard to find a really good fan translation though. I'd recommend anyone to track it down. It aged really well all things considered.
I have too many RPGs right now. Only about halfway through DQ11, haven’t started No No Kuni, plenty of Mana Collection left. Maybe someday.
@KitsuneNight good luck with your backlog... While I'm tackeling mine (currently also Collection Mana ) it still grows bigger... Some Games are still in their original blister... So this one will have to wait!
As always, will wait for a potential physical version or get it on Steam.
With Dragon Quest and Ys VIII still sitting in their respective cases still unplayed I am on a full RPG hiatus until further notice lol. This would be on the list after those though as I love this art style and have heard mostly good things about this game
@mazzel
I'm gonna need it.
My backlog is massive. But i suspect most people on here have a huge backlog.
Day blanking one. I am excite.
Yes day one buy for sure. I still had my translated Super Famicom cart but getting this remaster for Switch would be an awesome addition.
I haven't played any of these games before, this one looks really good.
@KitsuneNight I have a backlog, unopened games and now a digital backlog too.
Saga gameplay drives me kinda insane but the soundtrack in these games is so superb it might be worth experiencing just for that.
Hmmm.... It seems that this is one of those games that is only going to be awesome for me if I experienced the game in the 90s. I can replay Final Fantasy 6 over and over again, same with Secret of Mana, but when I tried playing Secret of Mana 2, I couldn't get into it.
But if the price is right, I might just go ahead and get it anyways. Like @Kalmaro says, it's basically Octopath's inspiration...
I wonder when Frontier will drop?
Looks good! Glad they didn't go with the mobile-style graphics of the Dragon Quest 1/2/3 rereleases.
I want to pick this up at some point I believe, but knowing that there will be a future sale I have backlog to get through first. I'm also tempted to grab DQ3 at some point, though it doesn't sound like it's the best version to grab.
Oh my! Now this is good news!
@KitsuneNight the first year I was able to keep no backlog... That was 2.5 years ago
@mazzel
I have 860 games on steam alone
There is no getting through that backlog for me
Not even with liberal use of trainers.
@KitsuneNight Don't even start with Steam... Since Humble Bundle started several years ago, I stoped counting...
