....Bit steep.
Nearly vertical.
Or just buy the original carts for dirt cheap?
@bigcalsworld
Are they dirt cheap though ?
Bout as steep as the difficulty level on the original games...
Or how about the Switch doublepack for $30?

@KitsuneNight Yes
@bigcalsworld
Some evilbay fu later, I see that they are.
The original consoles on the other hands are a tad expensive.
@Savino
Nah, they just buy them to display them.
I buy my games to play
....eventually.
@Magician
Oh, don't be silly
that makes way too much sense.
Cool but I’ll opt for the regular standard edition. I’ll apply the savings toward copies for all 3 consoles. I have all the original carts anyway. 😊
That SNES cartridge looks gorgeous. If only I had a SNES
@ItalianBaptist
The Snes is cheaper then that cartridge.
Why pay less when you can pay moooooore.
A-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh
In the jungle, nobody buys thissss,
Because why need them, when they're too expensiveeee
A-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh
Oh sorry. I couldn't help myself.
Edit: sigh now i got the real song stuck in my head. Dangit. >
Pity its not that Final Cut of Aladdin on a MD Cart. That would have been something, assuming you can get it to run on MD hardware.....
Would had been nice if they also made an Aladdin Limited Edition Super NES cartridge that had the Sega Genesis version in it with better graphics. I would buy that instead of the ugly ruby Genesis one seen here.
I mean...I played these as a kid too but...I don't get the appeal.
@invictus4000
Nostalgia
Nostalgia is best when it something half remembered from 15 or more years ago.
Cause usually when it's right there in front of you again, it doesn't live up to the rose tinted glasses.
I could buy The Lion King for like 2 bucks, but it doesn't have yellow paint. Totally worth $100.
@KitsuneNight nearly as steep as the gorge Mufasa fell into.
@ShadJV
He is still climbing out of that.
@KingMike
We can fix that with some spray paint.
It will only cost you 99 bucks !
199 for gold paint.
@KingMike : I'll paint your $2 cart for half that amount.
DISCLAIMER: Any resultant respiratory failure from the paint fumes is purely unintentional and you waive all liability in the extremely high likelihood of illness and/or death (and vice versa).
Think my deal is better.
At least you wont catch death.
First off I'm glad these games are getting modern rereleases.
30$ is still too much for two games like these. The Sega Mega Drive collection on Switch is around 30$ too, and even if it was a bit more when released, it's more bang for your buck.
I think what they did is make the lowest price closer to the special edition prices to incentivise people to pay the extra for those editions.
Interestingly this kind of explains why these games didn't come to the mega drive mini (though Castlevania was on a separate collection too, probably cuz it sells more).
@Bomberman64
And then people play it once.
Are suddenly reminded just how bloody hard these games are.
The rose tinted glasses come off.
They don't have the time or inclination for this, and then the games get shelved.
For the most part.
Edit: and the Sega Megadrive collection is just so much more better and bang for your buck.
It's 50 games for 30 not just 2.
Iam8bit do some very good work, this isn't it. Completely ridiculously priced and totally uneccessary.
@Paperboy It's because there's the SNES version of Lion King. I guess next round we'll get the other releases.
Ridiculously overpriced, can’t wait to see how much they’re be on eBay when/if they’re sold out!
Thinking back, SNES games used to very expensive back in the days in Sweden as well, I remember seeing Worms and Donkey Kong Country for £80/$100 around ’95-96.
This is ridiculous. You can buy the originals boxed in excellent condition for less than £30 for both.
Just like the Limited Run Star Wars Pod Racing, this is stupid cashing in on people who dont know better.
I'm sure you can find the originals on eBay for well cheaper than this.
@Bomberman64 Yeah, I deleted my comment right after I posted, bacause I realized that too. Sorry about that, wasn't fully awake yet I guess.
I’ve tried some of these ‘official’ new versions of old games from various companies (Jaleco Brawlers pack for SNES, 40 Winks on N64 from Piko). I like the idea when it’s games that are hard to find or even ones that got cancelled (like 40 Winks) but the quality of all the ones I’ve tried are pretty poor. They’re no better than the repros people provide on Etsy. The Jaleco Brawlers pack cartridge is abysmal, and the boxes and manuals look and feel like they were printed at Primary school. When it’s games like these, just get the originals.
@Bunkerneath
Much cheaper. You can get all 3 of these for less then the asking price of a single "limited" run cartrdige.
@Paperboy Don't worry. It's not your fault that their marketing is bad at informing. It doesn't say specifically what versions of the two games they are anywhere. Not even on amazon.
@Bomberman64
They are better at overpricing.
26 year old game.
Some colored repro cases.
That will 99 bucks each, sir.
.... but y tho?
Like, really. Who is so obsessed with these two games that they're gonna pay almost $100 each to get reprints in fancy colours?
iam8bits is legitimately the absolute worst repro maker around
Piko Interative, Limited Run Games, RetroBits and a few other legit companies can all manage to sell the games, with license, for 30 to 50$US. Then there's not legal repros that got really cheap recently that also sells for a pittance. without forgetting that the original games for these two are worth what? 10$US at most according to pricecharting?
And then there's iam8bits ... 100$ goddamn dollars US. Are they insane? Ridiculous
tempting to get the switch exclusive "retro editions"
Ooft, my wallet hurts really bad atm though
They were not that great to begin with but this feels a bit like a stick up.
@Maccish Its Disney and everything Disney has is overpriced. I'm surprised they haven't started charging cash or credit to use the park bathrooms yet.
@Tempestryke True! I’m very surprised they DON’T charge for the bathrooms though...
@Maccish May it never come to pass.
@Tempestryke Cheap sodas and expensive bathroom visits - genius!
welp crap I have grudges of stuff that people act cool cause they got the old one.
@GravyThief The only think about the Jaleco collection is that I think The Peace Keepers is an expensive game now (I know its Japanese counterpart has been a pricey game for a long time, but I think the English one is a costly game as well.). (the collection was the Rival Turf/Brawl Bros/Peacekeeper trilogy yes?)
@KingMike yep it was the Rushing Beat trilogy plus Tuff E Nuff. It’s definitely good value, those 4 games for £20, and for anyone who really wants to play them without any other means you can’t complain. I was just disappointed with how everything felt, like the box and manual, but my expectations were probably too high for that price.
I have a bigger issue with 40 Winks that I bought from Piko, as it was a lot more expensive. The box and manual are really cheap, but even worse the ROM they’ve used has a really low sound volume just like the prototype ROM that’s been around for ages. I really thought they would have polished it for the prices they are charging, but nope. They just stuck their logo to the start up screen and called it a day as far as I can tell.
These things just aren’t for me.
@Maccish And the stench would be great. I predict rioting in the park
