Despite being competitors within the video game industry, Nintendo's North American branch maintains healthy relations with Microsoft's Xbox division. In recent times, the two parties have united to get certain games published on the Switch and Banjo-Kazooie featured as a DLC fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Now, Xbox Game Studios subsidiary The Coalition has paid respect to Nintendo of America's retired president, Reggie Fils-Aimé, by featuring a special achievement in the upcoming Xbox title, Gears 5. It's called "My Body Is Ready" and you unlock it when you complete the boot camp in the game.
A live demo of the new entry in the Gear of War series will take place on 19th August at this year's Gamescom. In response to this news, Reggie himself thanked Phil Spencer and mentioned how he hoped to see his own achievement unlocked:
If you aren't familiar with the above phrase, it's a reference to a historic moment at E3 2007, when Reggie appeared on stage and said the famous line before completing a body check on the Wii Balance Board.
We think it's a lovely way to pay respect to Reggie, but it does make us miss him. How about yourself, though? Do you miss Reggie? Would you consider playing Gears 5 to unlock this achievement? Would you like to see Nintendo and Microsoft team up again in the future?

"Would you consider playing Gears 5 to unlock this achievement?"
I mean as far as reasons for playing a game goes, that should be pretty far down the list.
If your gonna reference a Nintendo president, then put the game on a Nintendo device 😉
“Would you consider playing Gears 5 to unlock this achievement?”
No I’m going to play it anyway.
“Would you like to see Nintendo and Microsoft team up again in the future?”
Would anybody not?! Portable Forza Horizon please. The first two were on the 360.
Was planning on playing it anyway.
So ready for Gears 5. I put almost 2000 hours into Gears 4 😂😂.
So original Gears trilogy for Switch confirmed? Now that would be cool
M y B o d y I s R e a d y.
Seeing the peoples reaction to the "Would you consider playing Gears 5 to unlock this achievement?" Question made me realize people really don't like jokes
My Body is Reggie
Can't say I'm a fan of the Gears of War series but that's nice of them.
If Nintendo and Microsoft are chummy these days it would be cool to get the original Gears of War trilogy on Switch.
Reggie was just massively likeable. I do kinda miss his presence. Hope he’s enjoying his retirement.
I didn’t even know he retired lol
Awwww, I love Reggie. Bowser seems cool though. It’s nice to see Microsoft and Nintendo getting along, works well for me since I have both of their consoles.
I supposed if my cousin gets this game i may borrow it just to get this achievement just for kicks lol
Nice gesture!
Been looking forward to Gears 5 regardless. My body is even more ready. 🙂
It reminds me of a Friday the 13th achievement for hitting Jason 13 times with a bat (Super Smash Bros.)
@Haywired He’ll yeah give it to me baby and take my money.
The Cole train runs on whole grain baby whoo.
@Dman10 would be very cool indeed gears on the go, hoard mode.
Maybe there is a Gears trilogy on the horizon for Switch!
I’m playing Gears 5 day 1 thanks to Gamepass anyway, this achievement is just one more reason to do it.
Appearing on nintendo or not, its a nice gesture.
Love these kinda things, While the wining babys complain about (this console is better than this)
The companies hold hands and the people drink coffee together lol.
I would love a collaboration between the two.
That's nice but that's not the first time an exclusiv game gives a nod to another. Sony's Uncharted Trilogy had a "The Masterthief Collection" trophy which was a reference to Microsoft's Halo Masterchief Collection.
And I think there's a lot of other exemple like that.
