Despite being competitors within the video game industry, Nintendo's North American branch maintains healthy relations with Microsoft's Xbox division. In recent times, the two parties have united to get certain games published on the Switch and Banjo-Kazooie featured as a DLC fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Now, Xbox Game Studios subsidiary The Coalition has paid respect to Nintendo of America's retired president, Reggie Fils-Aimé, by featuring a special achievement in the upcoming Xbox title, Gears 5. It's called "My Body Is Ready" and you unlock it when you complete the boot camp in the game.

A live demo of the new entry in the Gear of War series will take place on 19th August at this year's Gamescom. In response to this news, Reggie himself thanked Phil Spencer and mentioned how he hoped to see his own achievement unlocked:

If you aren't familiar with the above phrase, it's a reference to a historic moment at E3 2007, when Reggie appeared on stage and said the famous line before completing a body check on the Wii Balance Board.

We think it's a lovely way to pay respect to Reggie, but it does make us miss him. How about yourself, though? Do you miss Reggie? Would you consider playing Gears 5 to unlock this achievement? Would you like to see Nintendo and Microsoft team up again in the future?
