Move aside Kid Icarus - Ubisoft's 2019 E3 Press Conference has just revealed Gods & Monsters is coming to the Nintendo Switch and multiple other platforms next year, on 25th February.
Here's the rundown, courtesy of Ubisoft's website:
In Gods & Monsters, the Greek gods have fallen, and it's up to Fenyx, a hero forgotten by myth, to see them take their place atop Mt. Olympus once again. The Isle of the Blessed has been taken over by Typhon – the deadliest of all Greek monsters – and you'll need to defeat him and his army of dangerous mythological beasts to restore order. To accomplish this, you'll have to overcome puzzling trials, traverse treacherous dungeons, take on legendary quests, and battle Greek mythology's most lethal monsters in this open-world action adventure.
In addition to relying on your own formidable capabilities, you'll need to seek help from the gods and their divine powers, every one of which you'll need to wield to defeat Typhon and his army of gorgons, harpies, cyclopes, and other mythical monsters across a lush, mysterious open world with a look that evokes painted storybooks.
Gods & Monsters is being created by Ubisoft Quebec – the same team responsible for Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Here's what the senior producer Marc-Alexis Côté had to say about the project:
"Over the last 10 years, I have had the chance to be part of an incredible team that has pushed the limits of Assassin's Creed to explore historical periods from a unique angle, but our imagination has always been bound to the reality of the history books. Through our work on Assassin's Creed Odyssey these past four years, our minds have lingered on another aspect of our history – mythology. Today, with Gods & Monsters, the tales we all love and know so well become a reality to be explored like never before."
Is this one you're looking forward to? Tell us down in the comments.

Hmmm so the switch is getting two new ips from Ubisoft. That nice , and have to say the game did look somewhat interesting
Looks decent enough, but as always I need to look at how the Switch version performs before actually deciding.
This looks great! I mean, we haven't actually seen any gameplay, but in comparison to everything else shown during Ubi's conference...
I'd definitely need to see some actual gameplay before passing judgement, but hopefully this game will scratch that Kid Icarus itch I've had ever since beating Uprising all the way back in 2012.
Sounds promising and right up my street, roll on feb 2020
I really enjoyed the artstyle of this game. Just need to see how the gameplay is before I decide to buy it or not.
Surprised to see this on Switch actually.
Looks positively intriguing atm.
This and the roller game were the only slightly interesting things shown off at the presentation. All of the shooting games looked like each other and were soooooooo boring. I wish all post apocalyptic gun games would end.
I'm glad that this has a bright and colorful art style and is not drab and grey nor being a Tom Clancy game. I am optimistic for it.
This stinks of Ubisoft deciding only certain types of games will sell on Nintendo... certainly nothing with a gun.... annoying really
I was interested until I read 'open world'.
So it is coming to Switch? I may give it a try, it did look interesting.
It looks nice, but the trailer shows too little.
Really strange choice to finish their E3 conference on.
@RupeeClock They could have squeezed another shooter in lol
@Belatarr They made it sound like you could create your character
I’m definitely excited though because AC Odyssey was my, personal, 2018 GotY
"Move aside Kid Icarus"
4 words in and I am already triggered.
Meh,... just like the entire presentation. This was a bust.
They should have shown more of it. Spent more time showing me games I already own.
Is it a film or a game? Don’t we get to see gameplay before release dates?
Copy & paste from my PS post:
Wait wut? How can you put a game on sale w/ less than 1 second of gameplay that made me think it was an indie 2D sidescroller action game? How can you not show more than that? Are they waiting for E3 2020 4 months after it releases to show it?!?!??!
I'm getting too old for this.
This one definitely caught my eye, but I didn't catch that it was Switchbound! I quite enjoy Greek/Roman mythology.
I'll need more of it to be shown off first though.
This has my interest. I really liked Assassin's Creed Odyssey, so I know what to expect from the team, and the description makes it sound very interesting.
@gloom Different strokes for different folks. Watch Dogs Legion is my favourite game shown so far this E3. Rainbow Six Quarantine will be a fantastic coop game. The new season for Rainbow Six Siege will be great. Ghost Reacon Breakpoint looks very promising. The Division 2 gets lots of new content. Roller Champions looks like a pretty refreshing sports game. And of course, Gods and Monsters being made by the team behind Odyssey is bound to turn out fantastic aswell.
@Agramonte *"meh...just like the entire E3"
Ftfy
@Stocksy I mean to each their own, but Roller Champs and G&M look far more interesting than any of the “gun” games Ubi showed.
I will say Watch Dogs looked good, but it always does, but I don’t think any of them have lived up to the hype yet have they? I know WD1 didn’t.
If it performs as badly as the Assassins Creed game its a no from me
Ubisoft. This whole conference was showcasing games about guns. This isn't my gun game ubisoft.
@Agramonte Everything from this year's E3 is a bust actually. Ubisoft is actually the first conference to be not bad.
@Dm9982 you might be right but it’s just the myth “adult” games won’t sell on Nintendo seems to stick with some.... Doom will save us
@Starcakes I concur, this E3 is almost depressing. 😆 Saving grace has been Doom and Cyberpunk 2077.... ah well, here’s to hoping SE and Nintendo can save the day this year. I mean, the bar has not been set high....
Loved all zero seconds of gameplay shown
Wow didn't expect that! I want to see more of this!
@Stocksy Yeah, devs only need to look at Doom and MK11 sales to see, yes in fact we will buy adult games. Hell a majority of us Nintendo fans are those that grew up with NES/SNES and are in our thirties+ now....
This game looks excellent.
I thought Kid Icarus x Zelda BotW, and said no way this game comes to Switch...
And then the boxart flashed on the screen. Thank goodness, the one game to grab my attention is actually coming to the Switch.
@Starcakes Yeah,... but we probably need to come back and fix that again - after Nintendo goes.
I think they the only hope to save this train wreck.
Would have liked to see more of this game.
Concerning history/archaeology in video games, here are a couple of articles that discuss Ubisoft specifically. Just for interest.

https://archaeogaming.com/2019/04/19/consulting-for-ubisoft-on-assassins-creed-odyssey/
Looks interesting.
That reveal trailer screamed BotW though. The character was literally holding a sword that glows blue like a Guardian Sword and the blades of grass was dead on like BotW.
@Agramonte @Starcakes Yeah, I mean just in case, I’m wearing my brown pants tomorrow. Less stain detection should Witcher 3 for Switch be announced. Internet will collectively cut timber.
Although BotW-inspired, I'm just not excited. Maybe it's the generic look of it. But I'm hoping it gets better later on.
Well l need to see more gameplay to think about the game, so for right now idk yet.
@Dm9982 Devolver was the highlight of the event for me, for a third time in a row.
Tales of Arise and the fromsoftware R.R Martin collusion would have been pretty exciting for me if leakers hadn't killed the surprise. PSO 2 would have also made me cry if it wasn't on the only console I don't own.
Cheers to Doom Eternal tough, prolly my most anticipated game this year.
@Malcrash Really?... well I missed part of it.
When I came back they had a mobile game and went on to talk about TD2, For Honor, 2 sec with ZOmbies, and some woman about a tactical game... That was the same thing they said about SIEGE.
I am downloading the Roller Champion PC demo. But they just want the PC community to Beta test their stuff for free.
@Dm9982 Well, I have it. But I am glad you excited for it. Good freaking game!
"While Kratos travels with his son,
We'll show you all his work... undone"
Ubisoft, 2019
@Agramonte Lol I have it as well, just haven’t finished. Such is the plight of a parent. 😆 Having it on Switch would make it much easier for me to complete, plus give others the chance to experience just how great it is!
@Starcakes Sadly I missed Devolver, what all was in it? Love that studio! Tales is a series I need to get in to still, been recommended so many times to me. FromSoft/RR does look awesome, Elder Ring right? Something like that. And I too was heartbroken by the PSO/XB1 exclusive.... been waiting for this announcement on Switch or PS4.... loved PSO on GameCube, PSU on 360, PSZero on DS, and PS Portable on Vita.... such a shame....
This looks great, cant wait to check this out in 2020. Looks like a 3d zelda game and it's got dungeons. I'll take it!
I'm interested! I'll keep my eye on this one in the future.
@Dm9982 A good gift for father's day! 😀
We will see. This game desperately needs it's own hook. Certainly the best game of their show and great it's coming to Switch. But I fear I already own this game.
(That direction of the camera sweeping up a grassy bank with the protagonist standing at the top gazing over at the horizon...yeaaah…)
...I get the feeling this was the game he wanted to make and ubi was like nope...call it AC.
Now that AC is done...mostly, anyway...vindication?
Super excited for this!!
@gloom ikr, how many more times do companies expect people to buy another zombie game?
@Dm9982 Well there was some bootleg games and Arcade machine
This looks good from the tiny bit we saw. Why on Earth did they not show more of it? The shooters all started to blend into one and the Adventure Time skit was longer than the Gods and Monsters segment. Weird.
UbiSoft show in summary - started well (Watch Dogs looked good) and ended well (sort of). In between I’m pretty sure I fell asleep at one point.
@AntiHero Oh lol, that was the E3 “intermission” fun and such style show! I started watching then had to charge phone so missed the rest of it.
My first thoughts were, I hope they keep the art style, and, this looks like BotW, which isnt a bad thing at all.
Definitely my kind of game.
I was getting sick of looking at all the games with ultra realistic graphics. Some of them look like they would make better movies then games
I love the look of what they showed and the idea of a game centered around Greek mythology. It's a shame they couldn't show us any gameplay. I'll definitely keep my eye on this one. It does seem like Ubisoft is trying to capitalize on the popularity of BotW.
It's kinda sad that both Bethesda and Ubisoft spent more time talking about DLC/expansions for already released games rather than brand new games.
Definitely interested
@westman98 I felt like Bethesda was 3 parts - Expansions / Attempting to fix the hot mess of FO76, Tech, and Doom. And doom was the best part.
@Dm9982 It's just baffling, they already have functional versions of the game in PS4 and Switch, yet they chose to make a custom build for One which is the least JRPG friendly system in the market.
It's like half life 3 releasing only on consoles.
@Starcakes Exactly. I mean it points to MS paying for it. Most likely paying for translation....
The best game shown in Ubi's conference, and it's coming to Switch. Hell yeah!
Definitely interested to see more, certainly the most eye-catching game of Ubisoft's presentation.
Would like to see some actual in-game footage of this game.
I'm so confused. Granted, the film is amazing - it has some of Ian McKellan's finest acting, and even Brendan Fraser is pretty solid in it - but I'm not sure how it's possible to make a good game out of it.
Oh, wait.
@Dm9982
My favorite part of that Bethesda conference is when the (clearly paid) audience members clapped loudly when Todd announced that Fallout 76 was getting NPCs.
@westman98 😂😂
This looks pretty interesting, but I still have to play Breath of the Wild before I play BotW Delta Gamma Kappa
Screens for this look really promising.
Titles like these make me think a Switch pro will be coming out at some point.
How can you tell that it's Zelda-like? There was no gameplay shown.
@JaxonH @Starcakes @g_ruz
Maybe, just maybe they will do a Starlink X Starfox again and bring Pit and co. into the Switch version..?
I can dream...
