The legendary American actor Bruce Campbell might be 60-years of age now, but he's still young and hip enough to know what the kids want in their video games: Ash from the Evil Dead.
Unfortunately, he's not willing to comply with these demands – with the horror movie star recently taking to Twitter to end the rumours about his character coming to Mortal Kombat 11 as a DLC fighter once and for all. See the hilarious graphic for yourself below:
So, there you have it. Unless this is some elaborate ploy, Ash won't be coming to NetherRealm's latest Mortal Kombat game. For now, you'll just have to rewatch the old Evil Dead movies or the more recent television series which was discontinued last year.
Are you disappointed to hear this fan favourite won't be added to the MK11 roster? Have you been enjoying this game on the Switch? Tell us below.

I wasn't aware he was a rumor to be in.
I'm not really into Mortal Kombat but I really like that image.
Bummer this is true. I still want Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers and Jason Vorhees to show up!
@Kalmaro Now you know thanks to NL's re-report!
Edit: Why is this featured on top of the page and not, for example, the great article on Virtua Racing?
I hope the predator is still in,
Freddy Kruger, Michael Myers etc.
That Twitter post is why I love Bruce Campbell.
That's...not groovy.
Er... Ash for Smash?
Booooo. I was hoping that was one rumor that turned out true. Unless this is a fake out. Hopefully they didnt use another va either, like in poker.
@Quarth Because while Virtua Racing is certainly groovy, Bruce Campbell is even groovier!
Ash is too groovy for this money grabbing game anyway.
@Quarth Because it was pinned for most of yesterday. Features eventually get bumped.
@Kochambra I second this! Though, Virtua Racing is still awesome.
I wasn't even aware that this was a rumor, nor a possible consideration.
Now I am sad for things I didn't know could even happen. Thanks, NL.
As for the rumors, I don't believe we will see horror-movie-icons that already were in the franchise. Just a gut feeling. And about Ash... as much as I love the character and the antics of Mr. Campbell, I think MK has already reached a level of silly where he would perfectly fit tonally, but still, it would have felt awkward to me.
Y’all really thought Arnold swartzanegger(don’t know how to spell it) was gone be in mk11??? Wow.
Couldn't care less, to be honest.
Only character rumor I'm interested in, is SPAWN!
Shame this rumour turned out to be false.
Ash would have fit nicely into Mk 11. Mistaking revenants as deadites and making quips with Johnny cage before grabbing his broomstick and blowing kombatants away.
Hail to the king baby 😎
I mean, people are always wanting things we can't have, for example that petition to have Shaggy added as DLC to Mortal Kombat 11 was a thing which of course we can't have either, it never ends lol
@Sac_instead Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Campbell, Ultra Instinct Shaggy, the obsure list goes on...
Im glad. That rumored DLC list was full of guest characters. While one or two guests are fine, there are plenty of MK characters that should be DLC. For example, Cyrax, Sektor and Sheeva since they are in story mode. They even have a badass design for Ermac if you look hard enough in the Krypt. Then there are Reptile, Rain and Blaze, also seen in the Krypt. You could also bring in Sindel or Mileena. Or, my personal favourite, Nitara.
Those characters should be prioritized before guest characters.
This is 100% damage control, Ash is pretty much confirmed, all his intro dialogue is in the game. That or it's just a different character called Ash.
@TempOr Reggie Bannister to the rescue!!
I know that Smash Rumors are specific bull dung......but this? It's interesting. I wouldnt blame then though, freddy crueger, jason, alien, predator, etc join in MKX...I guess he makes sense
As long as Spawn got in I don't really care about any other guest characters.
I think Evil Dead Ash would be much BETTER choice for a Mortal Kombat fighting character than Shaggy Rogers.
If this is true, that's a real shame. I'd like to see Ash in the game, but I don't really think Bruce Campbell denying the appearance of the character in the game means anything. Not only is it possible that he's lying, but he also doesn't work for NRS. He doesn't know if Ash is appearing in the game or not. He can only tell us if he was hired to provide voice over, and most of the guests so far have not had much in the way of real voices anyway. I don't even remember Freddy talking at all!
gamestop had the listings for dlc characters and ash Williams was on the list.
@WarioIsTopTier yes, only the staff at Netherrealm could have written those pieces of dialogue. A random Joe on the internet trying to go viral couldn't have possibly written them.
But according 2 the Nintendo Switch datamine ASH WILLIAMS iz in the list of 9 DLC characterz & all of hiz fight intro dialog haz been put out there.
So I wonder who iz bullshi++ing us.
