CIRCLE Entertainment and Something Classic Games have revealed that Shadows of Adam will be bringing its stylish take on the JRPG formula to Switch early next month. You'll be able to get your hands on it from 3rd May.
The game features multiple playable characters, fast-paced battles, SNES-style graphics, a soundtrack made up of more than 40 tracks, and the convenience to save anywhere you like. A press release for the game says that, whether playing on the TV or in handheld mode, its "glorious pixels will immerse you in the adventure and its memorable scenes". Ooer.
Speaking of the adventure, here's a quick blurb:
Tucked away from the outside world by the impenetrable haze of the Misty Woods, the village of Adam has mostly lived in peace since the days of the Wraith War. The dark power that fueled that war has vanished, but darkness is descending once more and Adam's legendary hero, Orazio, is no more.
10 years ago he left without explanation and never returned, leaving his son and adopted daughter to wrestle with the dark secret he left behind—a secret that must now be revealed if the children hope to save both Adam and their departed father, though its revelation could unhinge the world.
This Nintendo Switch release is the first time that Shadows of Adam has launched on console. It's also a 'complete' edition, with previous DLC, ‘Guild of the Artificers,’ included.
You'll be able to pre-purchase the game from the Nintendo eShop on 26th April with a 10% discount, making the price $13.49 / €13,49; it'll then launch on 3rd May for $14.99 / €14.99.

Aren't a lot of the Indies a modern take on nes / SNES classics?
But hey it looks good, not my type of game but still something I may look into
I'd play it, but only if there was a physical release.
Looks like a very Phantasy Star / Mystic Quest kinda game. That's totally fine with me, if it launch at the right price then I probably may check it out.
@retro_player_22 Yep, I was just going to say this looks like Mystic Quest. Jumping 2 spaces ahead on the rocks, and the character placement in battles. This is one to keep an eye on.
Scrumptious! Morbo will store this in his sack for future digestion.
Are you seeing this KEMCO?
Looks FFIV'ish in a lot of the screen shots
Looks like every other "SNES-style graphics" Indie on the eShop.
Indies need their own Tab like on the PlayStation Store.
RPG Fan reviewed the PC version if anyone is interested...

This looks awesome! The 16 bit era RPGs are my favorites so this is a instant wishlist for now.
Doesn’t KemCo put out 4 of these a year?
@NinChocolate Yes but Kemco graphics look like mobile games. To me this is prettier. Also Kemco games are said to have mediocore stories and issues with translations.
Looks nice! I hope it has a decent story and good gameplay.
Howdy! I am one of the developers behind this. We've always pushed Shadows of Adam as the RPG "for people with jobs." What that means is we keep the game moving, and avoid bogging it down with grinding, fluff or annoying mechanics which gets in your way.
We have two core design tenets for Shadows of Adam, which sets us apart from other RPGs in this genre:
Happy to answer any questions, if you have any! Cheers!
Edit: And yes! Mystic Quest was a core influence when we built this! It had a lot of interesting ideas which unfortunately were not explored further.
@JaxonH You sure FFVI isn't a good starting point?
@lTyl Thanks I'll be buying this game now - Busy Banker who plays Switch in Transit to work
@TonyTyga90 Awesome! Thanks for the support!
@Majora101 We are all huge Nintendo fans at Something Classic. So when the opportunity came to bring SOA to the Switch, it was an instant yes!
Has some nice Mystic Quest Legend vibes.
played a preview some years ago on PC and I'll probably add it to my Switch Indie Collection. this is a very sweet little game, it's not fair to compare it with KemCo spum of garbage.
Fun Fact: I effing love Circle Ent. so I’m more than likely buying this. First I’ve ever heard of it though so before I lambaste that Buy button I’m gonna do a bit of readin’
This looks like a game I would enjoy and I like the music too.
Player character looks like eric cartman from those stills.
Give me a physical and I am there, they like making retro games? They should make retro packaging
Doesn't look bad.
