Following its success on mobile devices and the PlayStation 4, Aquiris Game Studio is bringing its retro-style racing game Horizon Chase to Switch and Xbox One, promising many hours of Out Run-style action. However, this isn't a straight port of the PS4 edition; these new versions of Horizon Chase Turbo will come with an all-new game mode called Playground.
Playground is a rotative competition that presents five new races each time you play. These are time-limited circuits that offer a wide range of tasks: you might be fighting against the clock rather than rivals, or you could find that you have infinite nitro boosts. The 'anything goes' attitude isn't limited to the gameplay, either; weather conditions are totally randomised, too. Playground is all about keeping you guessing.
Playground races will come in 5 difficulty levels, and each race presents two levels of challenge for players to take on: beating the computer opponents may be tasking, but global leaderboards mean you can challenge the world. Global and Friends-only leaderboards are available, that these will remain online for the duration of a season.
Horizon Chase Turbo launches on the 28th November. Let us know what you make of this new mode, and if you'll be picking it up.

First and this seems like a great way to keep the game fresh. Is it the 28th yet???
I cannot frigging wait for this game!
I'll be getting this along with R-type Dimensions on the 28th,what a day!
@OorWullie THIS
TURBO HYPE
I'm holding myself not to buy this game on day 01 as I really love the mobile version and always wanted to play it on the big screen...
I'm really curious what the frame rate is? It often feels like we've been spoiled by Mario Kart's perfect 60 fps and other developers just can't match it...
Yeap getting this for sure.
@60frames-please It's confirmed to be 1080/60fps.
@OorWullie Yay! So glad to hear this. Now I'm pumped to play this as soon as it comes out! And this does sound like a nice mode to have. It honestly sounds like the kind of mode I would only play in my very favorite games, but if it was there for them I would really appreciate it. If Kingdom New Lands had some kind of strange daily mode I would probably participate in it quite a lot. Same with Toad's Treasure Tracker, which I've really been enjoying recently.
Outrun Switch has Gyro controls
Already preordered
Game would have been so cool looking on 3ds......sigh
Great mobile game, getting this right away.
Day 1 purchase just like I did on PS4! I will just have to break down and get it on Xbox as well!!!
Already preordered.
Mobile games are getting better and better, and more and more console games are releasing on mobile. At the end of the day good games exist on all platforms, mobile included. The only real gripe is that the platform sucks for gaming. But the games themselves, if not developed around F2P/microtransactions and released on a proper console with proper controls, can be incredible.
I am so proud and happy that a Brazilian studio is able to actually put out decent games. I am a physical only buyer, but I am willing to bend my rules a little to pick this one up!!
Looks cool. Getting Gear Club and Vrally in December, I might as well get this one too now
I have no idea why this game is getting so hyped up like it is. I am usually a big fan of racing games, but I never really cared for the 16-bit style of racing. It was fine back in it's day but this style of graphics really hasn't aged well, IMO racing games didn't really get good until the 32-bit gen when they could give you a proper 3D track to race around on.
I guess it's fine for those who are nostalgic for it for some reason, but I really don't see what all the fuss is about. I guess it's the type of racing game that stands out more to gamers than racing fans.
Looks fun. Almost seems like it needs some weapons— like RoadBlasters. I'd prefer it have checkpoints instead of laps, but it's not a deal-breaker. The graphical style is fine. I find the more realistic the driving is the more I want to fall asleep.
I can't be the only one that glanced at the article, saw "Horizon" and "Playground" next to each other, and questioned why this article was on a Nintendo site. (Xbox Exclusive Forza Horizon is made by Playground Games)
O.k i didn't think i would bother buying this game again but now i absolutely will, battling your friends times is amazing fun.
@insertcoin2play This game is amazing.
@60frames-please i love this on PS$ and if it manages to keep the 60fps its going to be fantastic. if it doesn't it just won't be right.
@YANDMAN Cool. Sounds like it is 60 fps on Switch. I'm excited to play it. I've got it prepurchased and downloaded.
I never had the chance to play Outrun when I was a kid, so I don't know if this type of gameplay is for me. I like the simple art style at least.
@Dpullam This game is for everyone, it's fantastic. Did you play Top gear on the SNES? as this is based on that. It even features some music from the SNES game.
