Original Article: Strictly Limited Games, a Stuttgart-based publisher which specialises in releasing limited physical editions of digital games, has today announced the launch of a new release for Fox n Forests on Nintendo Switch.
The game has been described as a "stylish 2D action jump ‘n’ run title", taking heavy inspiration from 16-bit retro goodness in all areas from its graphics to its music. Players take on the role of a clever fox called Rick who is searching for a mysterious forest. Rick can shoot, punch, and jump through the forest level by level, fighting countless enemies, solving puzzles, and even changing the seasons to eliminate foes along the way. We praised the game for its "fantastically accurate portrayal of 16-bit platforming" in our review, but noted how its "fiddly controls and its short length" ruined the experience a little.
Fox n Forests will be treated to both a Collector's Edition and a Standard physical edition. The Collector's Edition is limited to just 1,000 units, going on sale on 18th November for €49.99, with 3,000 Standard Edition copies following just one week later for the cheaper price of €29.99. As you can see in the images above, the Collector's Edition appears to benefit from a gorgeous outer casing that seems to hold some extra goodies inside, but further details about the package's contents haven't yet been shared. You'll be able to snag either version of the game directly from Strictly Limited Games' website.
Do you love a good physical edition of your favourite digital games? Will you be keeping an eye on the release of this one to see if you want a copy for yourself? Let us know with a comment.

There sure are quite a lot of these small limited print publishers popping up lately. Limited Run Games have been at it for a long while now, but there's new companies like Super Rare Games, Signature Edition, Special Reserve Games, and now Strictly Limited Games.
That said I am interested in getting this physical, I never did get the digital release so I do fancy this.

edit: sorry, didn't mean to seem so agressive...
These new companies are killing me. Too many to collect.
@verminio At the time this article went up, it appears that the product wasn't yet listed on their site, it is now though like you say.
Checking the countdown timer on their website, the given launch date of November 18th doesn't seem right?

https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?iso=20181118T22&p0=136&font=cursive
The countdown on their website appears to be counting down to November 17th 10pm UTC or 11pm CET
Seems like they're opening orders at midnight local time or something, since they're a Germany based company.
@RupeeClock Signature Edition is just an offshoot of merge games, you can get most of their games (true only standard editions) on Amazon.
The signtures aren't even real, they are printed
@Stocksy Do you buy all these games from all these publishers?
Also do you play all of these games?
And why would but all these games from them? (I assume you do in this case)
Not saying that you should not just wondering.
The game has too much flaws IMO.
This is sad because I'm sure the developers wanted to give their best to make a great game.
It's impossible to deny the problems in the game that's why I'm not going to buy the collector's edition.
I read it played like a prototype. It had the look, like so many throwback games do, but again, gameplay takes a specialist touch!
@verminio @RupeeClock
Haha, typical. Yeah, the page wasn't up at the time of posting. Thanks, though - I've updated the article 🙂
Don't care about the collector's edition but I will be getting that physical copy of the game soon.
Well this is...unfortunate.
@NinChocolate @Fake-E-Lee pretty much everything Fake E Lee said. It's just not a fun game. You Can only melee or shoot while standing(can't while jumping). Some enemies are placed in rather poor spots making the not shooting while jumping even worse. You have to constantly go back and replay level after upgrading to find more in game items necessary to continue. I could honestly keep going. Long story short, if you have any interest in the game, I wouldn't dish out the cash for a physical. Maybe wait for an eshop sale. The game is pretty yes, but don't say we didn't warn you that it's not that fun 😆
They shouldn't make them so limited. But I'll be watching for it as well.
@Fake-E-Lee that's exactly right. Regretful to say the least. I really need to stop doing day 1 purchases.
@Fake-E-Lee haha yeah I think you go over board with your purchases 😅. But in all seriousness, I hear you. I typically try to be extra picky with my purchases so i can focus on 1-2 games at a time or I'll never seem them thru. For instance, I bought save me Mr Tako and it's become very bland and repetitive. Plus I'm stuck and i can't find level 33 for some reason so I can progress. Because the game was becoming dull to me, I've jumped back into hollow knight as I rage quit back in August and took a mini vacation from it to play hyper light drifter which I couldn't put down and beat very quickly. Also since im stuck in save me Mr Tako, i made an impulse purchase on the messenger which I can honestly say is so much fun. Now i plan to not make any purchases until smash comes out. Which means I'll be focusing on hollow knight, messenger, and maybe some megaman11. But I'll try to finish at least 1 or 2 of those until smash comes out so I'm not looking to buy anymore until then.
Problem here is if you don't get you won't get. Once a buyer/collector gets them you won't see them again since that is a one time made. That what makes it either you buy or get nothing. That's too simplistic but that what it comes down to.
Well for the price it will be NA $56.56 before import tax and shipping could put it at $70 probably. I will probably not get the aluminum card though if it is like $199.99 that would be outrageous. It is less than the CE then I'll think again.
I was going to ask if this game was worth a digital purchase but I'm reading a lot of negative comments about the game being terrible to control. I'm not sure I want to even bother. Maybe I'll just get the SNK 40th Anniversary Collection instead.
Thanks for all the education on this game, everyone. It's been on my backlog forever, and I don't believe it's even gone on sale once (please correct me if wrong). The look is there, but I see the gameplay isn't. With so many other better games to play, I can't be angry about this. Off my wishlist you go. Now, if it magically turns up on GameFly, I'll rent it still, but I'm not dropping cash on this from what I've read.
To non buyers that won't hurt the rest whom will buy it regardless of what one would say. Reviews are reviews it's up to the buyer to decide themselves.
And still no manual. easier to slap in some existing artwork than actually compile a manual.
Looks like an organized bashing has been going on. Personally, I love the gameplay. It's not just looking like an old school game, it plays like one as well. As hard as it may be to understand for the younger gamers, some people actually like their games like this.
@komayto agree those younger gamers forget what how it was when it was starting out. They forget how lucky they are to enjoy the game evolution to where it is now but forget how it started.
The collector's edition pre-orders went live at 11pm GMT / 12pm CET, and the 1000 Switch pieces sold out in 29 minutes.
The 700 PS4 pieces later sold out in about 47 minutes.
I think that's pretty nice for a small indie game and this company's first Switch offering.
Did anyone see how much the Aluminum plate go for? I did get the CE game as the clock struck.
@RupeeClock that or they will scalping us buyers again...
@SwitchForce
There's always scalpers for these sorts of things and it's annoying.
That said, it looks like they're actually doing a second batch of the collector's editions today at 5pm GMT / 6pm CET, so it wasn't the full 1000/700 units that I thought.
And that includes the aluminium plates. I didn't see their price.
@RupeeClock I'll check to see. If it's to much for the plate I'll have to pass.
@SwitchForce
I got an email about the pre-orders opening in an hour.
The art card (aluminium plate) is €9.99 and limited to 199 pieces.
@RupeeClock if so I might get.
@SwitchForce
The sales opened 35 minutes ago and the art cards are sold out again.
But I think they might do more for the non-collector's edition release of the game next week.
What the 9*&(&(&(* I watched the time and at the time it was gone. I think Scalpers and botnet are at work again. Great they love Scaplers don't they.
And I suspect they never had any Plate to sell otherwise why they be gone in less then a minute.
